  • XOi Technologies

    Led · Series A · Apr 2015

XOi builds software for maintenance and field service technicians to capture photos and quickly access information about the machines they are fixing. The company began in 2010 building connected 3D glasses and hardware under the names Pairasight and XOeye, but pivoted to phone and tablet apps after hardware proved too costly and clumsy. Headquartered in Nashville, XOi plans to integrate data from its newly acquired Specifix into its platform to provide more device-specific instructions and to build datasets to predict maintenance, upgrades, and other work. XOi will use a portion of a fresh $230 million financing from KKR to fund growth and the acquisition. KKR’s investment makes it a majority owner; the company had raised less than $20 million prior to this transaction. XOi did not disclose the acquisition price for Specifix or its post-money valuation; it said the Specifix price is less than half of KKR’s $230 million commitment, and this is XOi’s first acquisition. XOi Technologies offers XOi Vision, a cloud-based mobile application that uses computer vision and machine learning to capture, archive, and intelligently retrieve jobsite content and enable real-time remote support for field technicians. The product gives technicians access to manuals, diagrams, training content, and remote video assistance, and automates visual documentation and workflow for internal records and customer transparency. Over 6,000 field service users leverage Vision, and more than 3,000,000 job-related pieces of content have been captured to date. The company says it has grown revenue 100% every year since 2016. With recent traction that includes two Fortune 500 OEM additions in the mechanical industry and expansion into Canada, XOi plans to expand integration partnerships and key account acquisitions. The company also intends to invest heavily in talent, adding dozens of new team members across marketing, sales, customer success, and engineering. XOi Technologies (formerly XOEye Technologies) provides a SaaS-based field service communication solution aimed at the MEP sector. Its XOi Vision platform leverages workflow automation and machine learning to streamline documentation of service calls, facilitate real-time remote support, archive key service content, and improve transparency. The system integrates with existing Field Service Management software and can be used with standard mobile devices or a variety of smart wearable devices to capture video and audio content. Led by CEO Aaron Salow, the company emphasizes content capture and workflow integration to support field technicians and back-office teams. The company announced plans to accelerate product development around content distribution, data mining, and machine learning using the newly raised funds. XOEye Technologies combines wearable computing devices, custom applications and cloud-based software to deliver real-time communication and efficiency solutions for employees and customers. Its solutions support business processes including on-site service, training, sales and auditing with remote assistance. The company is led by CEO Aaron Salow and targets industrial enterprise use cases. XOEye plans to use new funding to accelerate preparation for full commercial availability of its wearable technology solutions. The company recently closed a Series A financing to advance commercialization activities. No operating metrics were disclosed in the article.

  • QuickPay

    Participated · Equity · Dec 2013

QuickPay is a San Francisco-based provider of mobile parking payment solutions offering the QP QuickPay mobile parking platform. The platform gives users one mobile parking application that works across all parking environments and provides parking owners and operators a suite to enable mobile parking. It is available at hundreds of locations across the U.S., with new locations being added continually. The company recently partnered with ABM Parking Services, which operates over 2,000 parking locations, and with Canadian operator Impark. QuickPay completed $5.5M in additional funding and intends to use the proceeds for product development, account management, and operations to scale its services across North America. Founded in 2010 and led by Chairman and CEO Barney Pell, the company is focused on expanding partner integrations and geographic reach. QuickPay offers a mobile app that shows parking lots accepting QuickPay payments, lets drivers view rates, reserve spaces for set periods, and pay within the app; non-smartphone users can pay via text or voice and present a confirmation code on arrival. The company focuses on off-street parking lots and works directly with lot owners, enabling them to change rates, offer exclusive spaces to QuickPay users, and run promotions such as coupons. QuickPay added support for gated parking facilities through a GateKit device, which the company says covers roughly half of all parking spaces. The service is live in more than 100 locations across 12 cities in California, Colorado, and Nevada, covering about 12,500 parking spaces. Barney Pell, founder of Powerset, has moved from executive chairman to CEO, while founder Carl Muirbook remains president. The company announced $3.5M in seed funding as it expands product features and geographic coverage.
