Innovation Ulster Limited (IUL) is a wholly owned knowledge and technology venturing company of Ulster University. Investment funds are provided by IUL for the commercial development of Ulster's research, to ensure the diffusion of knowledge into the private sector and promote the industry attractiveness of its Intellectual Property. IUL Investment Policy goals are to: - create an entrepreneurial environment in the University that encourages and rewards the generation of new inventions and knowledge, including educational materials, by staff and students - facilitate the transfer of new commercially and socially important inventions and knowledge to society - maximise the University's commercial impact IUL aims to maximise the commercial and economic impact of Ulster's research, and achieve a long-term rate of return that in real terms shall equal or exceed the rate of spending on its investments, and to do so with an acceptable level of risk.
