  • Primary Record

    Led · Equity · Feb 2024

Primary Record is a Fishers-based health care information app founded in 2020 by Jean Ross and Jim McIntosh. The app organizes health care data and allows users to document, organize and share information with care teams and family caregivers. Primary Record launched publicly on Dec. 1, 2023. The company plans to build out app features, specifically a platform for care managers and patient advocates to securely connect with patients and family caregivers, and to pursue community partnerships to publicize the product. Ross says the app aims to reduce redundancies, lower medical costs, and reduce the mental load on caregivers by centralizing records and putting the family on one platform. Ross was also nominated for the Rising Entrepreneur award in the 2024 TechPoint Mira Awards. Primary Record offers a secure mobile health app that centralizes personal medical information to simplify collection, organization, sharing, and communication within care teams. The app launched on December 1, 2023 and initially targets end-users, families, and community partners. The platform aims to improve care coordination and reduce costs for families managing chronic and other conditions. Primary Record was established in 2020 and plans to expand its offerings to public and private healthcare agencies in Spring 2024. The company positions itself to benefit from changes under the 21st Century Cures Act and cited population chronic-condition prevalence to underscore market need. In October 2023 Primary Record secured external capital to support its roadmap, including a $1M pre-seed investment and a 30% Venture Capital Investment tax credit.

  • TrueLeap

    Led · Equity · Nov 2023

TrueLeap is a Houston-based edtech company developing edge-AI learning systems, workforce platforms, and last-mile broadband solutions tailored for areas with limited connectivity and unreliable power. Its integrated hardware-software stack lets schools and governments deploy digital services that remain functional even when bandwidth is scarce. The firm has already rolled out infrastructure in Africa, India, and rural parts of the United States, and it recently inked a deal with the City of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo to implement a digital twin platform that tracks enrollment, staffing, and performance in real time. Founders Sandip Bordoloi and Sunny Zhang spun the company out of Born Global Ventures, a Houston venture studio for immigrant-founded tech startups. Investors highlight TrueLeap’s “infrastructure mindset,” noting the convergence of edge compute, connectivity, and educational services. Although no revenue or user figures were disclosed, the company claims demand for its large-scale deployment is growing rapidly. The new capital will finance further rollout of its connectivity rails and AI learning systems across underserved markets.

  • Stagetime

    Participated · Equity · Nov 2021

Stagetime is a networking platform for performing arts professionals that enables artists to create customized online profiles aggregating photo, audio, and video. Artists can stay informed about opportunities and peers’ career updates while arts employers can post announcements and connect with talent. The product was built as a custom solution to address the limitations of traditional networking tools and existing artist-focused solutions that offer inadequate networking or a clunky user experience. Stagetime plans product refinement and more aggressive customer acquisition, including a casting tool scheduled to launch in Spring 2022 to help organizations plan future talent needs. Founded in October 2019 and based in Bloomington, Ind., the company recently raised $1.5MM to expand its team, accelerate organic customer growth, and enhance product features. Management and investors cite early user growth and prior capital as signs of traction as the company scales.
