  • Powerpollen

    Led · Equity · Apr 2024

PowerPollen has created patented hardware and a custom applicator that collects pollen from male plants, preserves pollen viability for up to four years, and applies it precisely in the field. The company reports yield improvements of over 20% in corn seeds and has demonstrated applicability in wheat through industry partnerships. PowerPollen has partnered with Bayer and Corteva for corn and with BASF for wheat, underscoring industry validation. Its technology reduces the need for male plant rows and can lower land, water and resource use while improving yield stability amid climate risks. PowerPollen is expanding beyond corn: the Liechtenstein Group has taken a stake and launched a joint venture focused on rice commercialization. The company plans to commercialize its pollination technology for rice seed production by 2027.
