Overview
The InsuResilience Investment Fund, formerly known as Climate Insurance Fund, is an initiative created by KfW, the German Development Bank, on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The overall objective of the InsuResilience Investment Fund is to contribute to the adaptation to climate change by improving access to and the use of insurance in developing countries. The specific objective of the fund is to reduce the vulnerability of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) as well as low-income households to extreme weather events.

Founded in 2016, Igloo develops a technology platform that embeds micro-insurance products into the digital customer journeys of e-commerce, fintech and other online partners. The company operates in eight Southeast Asian markets and has facilitated more than 600 million insurance policies to date. Beyond traditional cover, Igloo has moved into climate-resilience insurance, offering data-driven protection against floods, fires and extreme weather events. It recently formed a joint venture with Thailand’s JMT Network Service to launch a fully digital insurer, a blueprint it intends to replicate in Indonesia and the Philippines. Igloo positions itself as an enabler of affordable, retail-focused insurance, leveraging data and partnerships to widen access. Financially, the startup raised over US$26 million in December 2023 and has accumulated US$79.19 million in equity funding from investors such as Openspace Ventures, Cathay Innovations, Blue Orchard and FinnFund.

Agritask is an open SaaS Agronomic Intelligence (AgI) platform that delivers actionable agronomic intelligence to the Food & Beverage industry and the wider agri-food ecosystem. Its platform monitors more than 50 crop types across over 2 million hectares in 35+ countries and is used in more than 30 countries. Customers include large-scale growers, multi-farm corporations, private equity, ag-buyers, food conglomerates, ag-financing and insurance companies, as well as governments and NGOs. Agritask is headquartered in Tel Aviv, employs 70 people worldwide and has offices in Brazil and Bulgaria. In February 2022 the company raised $26.0M in a Series B to accelerate product development, scale global sales and marketing, and attract and onboard key international talent. Agritask offers an agronomic management software platform that supports real-time decision-making across the full agricultural production process, from soil fertility management and growth monitoring to harvest logistics. The platform integrates with more than 40 hardware and software data sources, including John Deere, Airbus, IBM and SAP. It is active in 20 countries and covers over 50 crop types, and is used by farmers as well as food and beverage companies, agricultural insurers, input providers, and governments or developmental organizations. Customers include General Mills, Suzano and Bom Jesus. The company intends to use newly raised funds to enhance its data analytics features and to expand its customer reach, including projects serving smallholder farmers and the agricultural insurance sector. Founded in 2010 and led by CEO Ofir Ardon, Agritask targets scaled, data-driven farm management across multiple stakeholder groups.
