UpHill is a Covilhã, Portugal–based digital health startup founded in 2015 by Eduardo Freire Rodrigues and Duarte Sequeira. The company develops care orchestration software, including clinical pathways and decision support systems that automate care and promote best practices. It collaborates with healthcare providers and life sciences companies across Europe to improve patient outcomes and reduce waste from care variability and fragmentation. UpHill currently serves major hospitals in Iberia such as ULS Sta Maria, Luz Saúde, ULS Coimbra, and Institut Guttmann. The company raised €7.0M in a Series A to strengthen its Iberian presence and expand into the UK and Spain. UpHill plans to use the funds to double its team headcount by the end of the year. UpHill builds software that provides real-time, evidence-based, multidisciplinary guidance to help hospitals adopt and adhere to clinical best practices. The platform functions as a decision-support tool to improve clinician compliance, reduce unwarranted waste, and make patient outcomes more predictable. Founded in 2015 by three medical doctors, the company focuses on simplifying healthcare professionals’ access to accurate and actionable information. In 2021 UpHill quadrupled active users and more than doubled monthly recurring revenue, demonstrating early commercial traction. The team plans to make the product more automated, integrated, and patient-facing while expanding features and use cases. UpHill already works with top-performing hospitals and pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis and Pfizer, with projects across Portugal, the Netherlands, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Norway.
