- Toss Lab
Participated · Series B · Sep 2020
Toss Lab provides JANDI, a collaboration platform with topic-based chatrooms, video conferencing, task management, and file previews. The company says JANDI is used by 350,000 corporate teams across customers in IT, manufacturing, F&B, commerce, and media. Toss Lab was founded in 2014 and operates offices in South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. In November 2022 Toss Lab secured a $1.2 million strategic investment from Taiwan-based Kdan Mobile Software. The two firms plan to integrate their solutions to expand internationally and scale their user bases. Management said the partnership will enable them to offer a more comprehensive enterprise solution and improve workplace efficiency. Toss Lab builds JANDI, an enterprise collaboration platform offering messaging, group chats and work-focused collaboration tools such as organization charts, a board view, read receipts and a secure file manager. The platform added Zoom integration, enhanced security and an advanced admin dashboard to serve remote workers and supports English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. Toss Lab says JANDI can host video calls with up to 300 participants and serves customers ranging from SMBs to large enterprises, including LG CNS, Nexen Tire and Lexus. The company reports revenue growth of more than 100% over the past three years and an 80% increase in users acquired during the COVID-19 pandemic across its Asian markets. Management plans to use the new funding for global expansion and to grow headcount by about 20–25%. Target markets cited for expansion include Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Middle East. Toss Lab offers JANDI, an enterprise messaging and collaboration platform designed for teams in Asia, with integrations via JANDI Connect to GitHub, JIRA, Trello, Google Calendar, and Webhooks. Since launching a pilot last May, JANDI has been adopted by 30,000 teams, mainly in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, and counts clients such as Ticketmonster, YelloMobile, and Mangoplate. The product aims to preserve the user experience of popular Asian messaging apps while serving as a platform beyond simple chat. Toss Lab has raised a total of $4.5M pre-Series A (including a new $2.5M tranche) and will use most of the fresh capital to hire aggressively. Its team grew from 10 to 50 since November 2014 and the company plans to double headcount over the next year. Toss Lab also intends to expand JANDI into Thailand and Malaysia within six months. The company has not disclosed daily active users but reports dramatic user growth and expects new acquisition channels and international markets to sustain its trajectory.
