    Led · Equity · Dec 2024

CarDekho SEA is a Singapore-based, technology-driven aggregator for used-car and bike financing across Southeast Asia. The platform operates an asset-light marketplace that connects small-scale used-vehicle dealers to more than 50 financiers and about 20,000 dealers and retail agents. It uses AI and machine-learning to reduce fraud and credit risk, and provides data to financing partners while taking no credit risk itself. Since launch the company has completed over 200,000 disbursements and facilitated more than $1 billion in loans, representing a 50x increase in gross merchandise value over three years. CarDekho SEA was founded in 2020, has operations in Indonesia (including OTO Indonesia) and the Philippines (Carmudi Philippines, Zigwheels Philippines), and is also present in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The company generates upwards of $50 million in annual revenue through per-loan commissions and plans further regional expansion into new markets in 2026. Management is pursuing inorganic growth as well as organic, citing interest in acquiring used-car financing platforms or insurance-brokerage platforms in Indonesia and the Philippines. Oto commercializes an "acoustic language processing" platform that models tone alongside words to decode emotion and engagement in spoken conversations. The company built the Oto Emotion Dataset (over 10,000 utterances from 3,000 speakers) and has extracted more than 3 billion intonation measurements to train acoustically aware embeddings. Its web-hosted, language-agnostic toolset offers in-call coaching, live dashboards, targeted call sampling, and automation for quality assurance, leveraging SRI’s SenSay Analytics for real-time speaker-state classification. In evaluations Oto reports up to 40% better arousal modeling versus text-only models, 60% better distinction between angry and sad samples, 90%+ accuracy on intonation behavior models, and a 94% accuracy in predicting call outcomes from acoustics in a 4,000-hour test set. Pilot deployments showed a 19% increase in conversation engagement and a 5% lift in sales conversion on “tens of thousands” of inbound calls, with some customers (ACD Direct) reporting up to an 18% conversion increase. The company was spun out of SRI International by Teo Borschberg and Nicolas Perony and is deploying its technology in the U.S. and EU. Oto aims to scale its dataset (goal of 1 million hours by 2020) and continue improving models via supervised and unsupervised learning on enterprise emotion data.
