  • Medmain

    Participated · Equity · May 2025

Medmain develops and provides PidPort, an AI‑powered cloud platform for digital pathology that supports slide digitization, remote diagnostic support, multi‑facility conferences, education, research, and quality control. The company says it accelerates pathology AI development via a proprietary platform using transfer learning. PidPort is already used across a range of clinical and research settings. Medmain plans to enhance functionality, strengthen integration with surrounding systems, and improve usability. The company will invest in infrastructure for digitalization, expand its sales organization, pursue regulatory approval for its pathology AI, and prepare for international expansion. With this round the company reports total equity funding of $18 million and is based in Fukuoka, Japan. Medmain builds and operates PidPort, a cloud system that integrates digitalization of pathology slides with AI-powered analysis and remote-diagnostic workflows. Its platform connects facilities for telepathology, supports consultations, multi-facility conferences, education, and research, and is already used by multiple medical customers. The company says its core pathology AI uses transfer learning to accelerate model development and can detect cancer across multiple organs. Medmain plans to continue enhancing PidPort’s functionality and integrations to improve usability and broaden adoption. It will invest further in software and AI development, digitization equipment, sales expansion, and pursuing medical-device approval. The company positions itself to address rising pathology workload and chronic staffing shortages through digital transformation of pathology services. Medomain develops and provides PidPort, a digital pathology support solution that leverages deep learning and the company’s proprietary image-processing techniques to enable fast, high-accuracy pathology diagnoses. The product was developed in collaboration with Kyushu University’s medical faculty and Kyushu University Hospital, using supercomputing resources for accelerated AI training. An alpha version shipped in winter 2018 and a formal release followed in February 2020; the company has conducted joint research with medical institutions nationwide. Medomain was founded in January 2018 as the first startup from Kyushu University’s entrepreneurship program. In the current financing it received ¥300 million from PACS provider PSP and entered a capital-and-business alliance; prior to this it raised ¥1.1 billion in August 2020, bringing cumulative funding to about ¥1.5 billion. Medomain and PSP plan to integrate Medomain’s pathology diagnosis technologies into PSP’s infrastructure and services and to jointly develop new systems such as a pathology cloud PACS.

  • Ozlo Sleep

    Participated · Equity · Oct 2024

Ozlo sells Sleepbuds, a compact pair of sleep-focused earbuds that support streaming and reuse licensed IP and design expertise from former Bose sleep-product engineers. The buds sit flush with the ear, use soft compliant tips with small wing tips for retention, and come in a puck-shaped charging case. Ozlo priced the Sleepbuds at $299 and began shipping units to early backers while making them broadly available for purchase. The company says it will use new capital to develop a second-generation Sleepbuds product and to pursue FDA clearance for a tinnitus therapy. Ozlo’s positioning ties the hardware to a broader health play within wearables rather than being a pure hardware-only maker. The team and product lineage trace back to former Bose executives and licensed Bose IP, which helped accelerate the product’s development and market entry. Ozlo Sleep is a Boston, MA-based science-driven sleep and audio technology company focused on clinically enhancing rest without pharmaceutical intervention. It was co-founded by three ex-Bose employees, including CEO N.B. Patil, COO Brian Mulcahey, and CPO Charles Taylor. The company's core product is Ozlo Sleepbuds, a headphone designed specifically for sleep that leverages acquired and licensed proprietary sleep-related technology from Bose Corporation. Ozlo emerged from stealth after completing a $10M Series A and plans to launch the Sleepbuds later this summer. The funding round was led by LifeArc Ventures and ARTIS Ventures, and board seats were added for Dr. Imran Hamid and Vasudev Bailey. Ozlo's stated mission is to improve wakefulness and the quality of mental and physical well-being by enhancing rest through audio and sleep science.

  • Pangeam Inc.

    Participated · Seed · Aug 2024

Pangeam is a San Francisco-based B2B SaaS workplace intelligence platform that delivers spatial and social analytics to help companies refine office layouts, improve resource allocation, and boost workplace efficiency. Led by CEO Jeremy Moultrup, the system quantifies the gap between design intent and actual human activity by measuring anonymous presence and ergonomic movements. It compares these metrics against layouts, amenities, and other design elements to create a feedback loop that informs workplace design and operations. The platform offers AI-powered analytics with a focus on privacy and integrates with existing workflows to drive operational efficiency. Pangeam announced a $4.25M Seed funding round and said it will use the proceeds to expand operations and development efforts. The result aims to keep employees engaged and productive while contributing to employers' financial health.
