- Avaxia Biologics
Participated · Series B · Jun 2013
Avaxia’s lead clinical candidate is AVX-470, an orally administered, gut-targeted anti-TNF antibody being developed as a potential first-line therapy for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The company initiated a Phase 1b clinical trial of AVX-470 in patients with active ulcerative colitis. Avaxia uses a proprietary oral antibody platform to develop minimally absorbed drugs that act locally in the gastrointestinal tract and is pursuing additional indications including type 2 diabetes, celiac disease, GI acute radiation syndrome, and oral mucositis. Avaxia controls all rights to its products and programs and is actively seeking collaborations. The company recently closed a Series B financing to fund clinical development activities and advance its lead program. Avaxia Biologics is a Lexington, MA–based biotech developing orally delivered antibody drugs that act locally within the gastrointestinal tract. Its lead development efforts include an orally active anti-TNF for inflammatory bowel disease and AVX-470 for GI acute radiation syndrome. The company also targets celiac disease, oral mucositis, diabetes and obesity with its oral antibody platform. Avaxia intends to use new capital to manufacture its orally active anti-TNF for an upcoming clinical trial and to complete final preclinical studies ahead of a Phase 1B trial in IBD patients. In addition to private financing, Avaxia has received funding from BARDA to support AVX-470 development. The company is led by founder and CEO Dr. Barbara Fox, and recently added Henry Kay (Boston Harbor Angels, Launchpad Venture Group) to its board.
- Incentive Targeting
Participated · Series A · May 2010
Incentive Targeting provides marketing technology for retail chains that enables manufacturers to market directly to individual shoppers across the firm's retail network. The service uses each shopper's detailed purchase history to target promotions and delivers them via available channels such as email, direct mail, or register tape. Its patent-pending technology allows non-technical marketing executives to design sophisticated targeted promotions and measure ROI in real time through the web. The company partners with retail chains to offer this targeted marketing service to manufacturers of grocery and consumer products. Incentive Targeting was founded in February 2007 and is based in Cambridge, MA. According to an SEC filing, the company raised $1.6 million in a round of venture capital in which 52 separate investors participated. Incentive Targeting offers an interactive self-service web-based application that enables manufacturers and grocery retailers to create, manage and measure the effect of promotional campaigns across retailer networks. The company’s system recently went live at its first grocery store chain, with 20 consumer packaged goods and grocery product manufacturers participating in distributing promotions through that chain. Several additional grocery chains are in the process of integrating with the application. Incentive Targeting closed a $2.35M Series A to support these expansion efforts. The company will use the funds to complete retailer integrations, increase sales capacity, advance product development and cover general operations. The platform targets manufacturers and retailers seeking measurable, web-based promotion programs.
