Founded in 2022, BiomEdit is an animal-health biotechnology company that harnesses the microbiome, synthetic biology, and artificial intelligence to create next-generation solutions for livestock and companion animals. Its current flagship effort is the Rumen Digital Twin, a generative AI foundation model that will analyze data from more than 20,000 cattle across 25+ countries to pinpoint the most effective methane-mitigation and productivity strategies. The company is also advancing microbiome-based feed additives aimed at cutting enteric methane in cattle, a program launched with a $4.5 million Gates Foundation grant in 2023. BiomEdit plans to offer an open-access, cloud platform allowing researchers and nonprofits to simulate interventions and fine-tune feed or microbiome approaches, while retaining commercial licensing pathways. Backers include venture investors Anterra Capital, Viking Global, Nutreco, AgriZeroNZ, Elevate and Betagro Ventures. The new Bezos Earth Fund award further bolsters the firm’s non-dilutive funding base, complementing its venture backing and positioning it as a leader in climate-smart animal agriculture.

  • LAXEY

    Participated · Equity · Apr 2024

Laxey operates a land-based Atlantic salmon farming business centered in Vestmannaeyjar and is executing a six-phase development plan to reach roughly 35,000 tonnes of annual production when fully built out. The company brought a post-smolt facility into operation in May 2026 and expects Grow-Out Section II to receive its first smolt in the autumn, while Grow-Out Section III and Smoltstasjon II are planned next. The initial smolt station will produce five million smolt per year with design capacity to expand to 15 million smolt annually. Laxey carried out its first slaughter in November 2025, producing ~5 kg fish 23 months after receipt of first roe, and has maintained weekly slaughters with strong biological performance and a high share of superior-quality fish. The company expects to harvest about 4,000 tonnes of Atlantic salmon in 2026 and derives revenue potential from both salmon production and the sale of post-smolt. Since founding, Laxey has raised roughly €200 million in equity to date, most recently adding €47 million in the oversubscribed round.

  • ViAqua Therapeutics

    Participated · Equity · Sep 2023

ViAqua Therapeutics develops an orally administered RNA-particle platform designed to prevent diseases in aquaculture species. Its first product is a feed supplement to enhance shrimp resistance to viral infections, initially targeting White Spot Virus (WSSV). The company says the solution will provide production stability for farmers and enable increased production per farm without raising disease risk. ViAqua intends to use the new funding to bring its first product to market and to invest in R&D for future products. The company plans to begin production in India at the beginning of 2024 and has a joint development and marketing agreement with Skretting, a Nutreco company. The company is led by CEO Shai Ufaz and is based in Haifa, Israel. ViAqua Therapeutics develops an orally administered RNA-particle platform using RNA and an encapsulated delivery method to promote shrimp and aquatic animal health, including protection against viral challenges. The company is commercializing its first shrimp health product and plans to develop additional products for aquatic animal health and nutrition. ViAqua intends to use the recent funding to support that commercialization and further product development. The company is led by CEO Shai Ufaz and is based in Misgav, Israel. The platform targets prevalent and devastating viral diseases in shrimp through orally delivered RNA particles.

  • Stellapps

    Led · Series C · Oct 2021

Stellapps began by building a Digital Access Network (DAN) offering end-to-end digitised supply-chain solutions and has expanded into value-added dairy products under the mooMark brand. The company leverages IoT, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, and partnerships with financial, insurance, veterinary, and cattle-nutrition providers to create value for small farmers and stakeholders. mooMark uses a tech-powered, low-capex approach for contract manufacturing and private labeling of traceable value-added dairy products, emphasising product traceability and reduced carbon footprints at the farm level. Stellapps' solutions are deployed in over 42,000 villages and digitise the flow of more than 14 million liters of milk every day. Financially, the company has raised over USD 50 million to date, including a recent USD 26 million Series C (equity and debt) and a USD 18 million pre-Series C from Nutreco in October 2021. The company intends to use the new capital to scale mooMark across India, strengthen its export segment, and support FMCG, D2C, and HoReCa customers focused on sustainability and traceability. Stellapps offers Internet-of-Things and digital solutions for the dairy supply chain, including smartMoo technology to enhance productivity, milk quality, and traceability. Its platform enables ecosystem partnerships to give farmers access to financial services, quality nutrition, and veterinary care, while its mooPay arm delivers digital payments, banking, savings, credit, and insurance. The company says it empowers farmers through technology, farm inputs, and market linkages and works with dairy farms, cooperatives, and private dairies across India, Nepal, Kenya, Bulgaria, Russia, and France. Stellapps plans to use the new funding to scale its traceability network and extend its digital footprint. The firm was incubated at the Rural Technology Business Incubator at IIT Madras and has previously received seed funding from Omnivore Partners. Stellapps is an IIT‑Madras incubated dairytech company that provides end-to-end farm optimization and monitoring solutions to dairy farmers and cooperatives. The startup leverages IoT, cloud, mobility, big data and analytics to improve milk production, procurement, cold chain, animal insurance and farmer payments. Its products and mechanization tools aim to maximize farmer profits while minimizing effort across the agri-dairy supply chain. Stellapps was founded by Ranjith Mukundan and Venkatesh Seshasayee and is based in Bengaluru. The company has previously raised a Series A from Blume Ventures and counts Flipkart executive chairman Binny Bansal among its supporters. It is currently raising follow-on capital as part of its Series B activity, indicating an active growth/expansion phase. Stellapps develops a full-stack IoT platform that spans precision farming, milk procurement, cold chain logistics and processing for the dairy sector. Its product suite includes SmartFarms, smartAMCU, ConTrak, AgRupay and MooKare. The company serves dairy clients across India, Nepal, Kenya, Bulgaria, Russia and France. Founded in April 2011 and incubated at the rural technology business incubator in IIT Madras, Stellapps combines hardware (wearables) and software to monitor milk quantity and quality and cattle health. The startup plans to use new capital for product development and geographic and commercial expansion, including wearable devices and cold‑chain infrastructure to help reduce costs for dairy value‑chain participants. Stellapps provides an end-to-end IoT data collection and analytics stack for the dairy supply chain, covering farm wearables, procurement sensors, cold-chain monitoring, payments, and insurance products. Its product suite includes SmartFarms, smartAMCU, ConTrak, AgRupay, and MooKare, and the full stack employs 26 different sensors across the chain. Wearable devices capture animal-specific data, quality sensors measure milk fat at collection sites, and cold-chain sensors monitor storage conditions; records are sent to company headquarters and to farmers via SMS. Stellapps reports having captured over $1 million of transaction data and serves dairy farms, cooperatives, and private dairies. Upfront hardware and platform costs range from $500–$1,500 with cloud service fees of $8–$10 per month, and the company is working with local banks to finance upfront costs. The system is designed for smallholder farms, runs on 2G data speeds, and Stellapps is developing a proprietary antenna to address rural connectivity issues. The company is pursuing international expansion and white‑label partnerships, with use in parts of Nepal and Kenya and plans to white‑label with agricultural retailers in France.
