Toregem BioPharma is developing TRG-035, an experimental antibody therapy designed to neutralize USAG-1, a protein that suppresses tooth formation, with the goal of reactivating dormant tooth buds and prompting natural tooth development. The company’s initial clinical focus is on patients with congenital tooth agenesis, with broader potential envisioned for stimulating a “third dentition” to treat tooth loss from aging, decay, or injury. Preclinical evidence of tooth regeneration has come primarily from animal studies (mice), while human testing to date has focused on safety. Toregem launched a Phase I trial at Kyoto University Hospital in October 2024 that enrolled 30 healthy adult men missing at least one molar; recruitment was reported to have stopped by March 2026 and the study is operationally complete, though full results have not been published. Toregem has secured a mix of equity financing and non-dilutive support (grants and subsidies) and reports cumulative funding above $29 million. Celaid Therapeutics is a university-spin-out leveraging proprietary technology to selectively expand human hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) for therapeutic use. Its lead candidate, CLD-001, targets severe pediatric non-malignant blood disorders by using cord-blood–derived HSCs that are expanded to overcome donor-shortage and HLA-mismatch limitations. Recent pre-clinical studies have shown positive efficacy and safety data, while chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) work and FDA pre-IND preparation are underway. Beyond its own pipeline, Celaid licenses its HSC expansion platform to pharmaceutical and biotech partners and is collaborating with AGC Inc. on iPSC-derived HSPCs. The company plans to use fresh capital to fund GMP manufacturing, U.S. IND-enabling studies, and platform expansion into broader cell and gene therapy programs.
