- Neusignal Therapeutics
Participated · Series B · Jul 2026
Neusignal Therapeutics is developing NTX-083, a novel low-molecule compound intended to treat Alzheimer’s disease via a mechanism distinct from existing therapies. The company completed a physician-initiated single-dose Phase 1 trial at the University of Tokyo Hospital (Feb–Sep 2025) and a company-sponsored multiple-dose Phase 1 trial (Nov 2025–Mar 2026) in healthy adults, with both Japanese trials reporting high safety, strong tolerability, and favorable pharmacokinetics and no significant side effects. Neusignal plans to begin a Phase 1b trial in Alzheimer’s patients in the United States later this year. The company intends to use the Series B proceeds to fund that U.S. trial and to expand its workforce ahead of potential strategic alliances with global pharmaceutical firms. Neusignal originated from Tohoku University and is headquartered in Tokyo.
- Storm Therapeutics
Participated · Series C · Apr 2026
STORM Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech headquartered in Cambridge, UK, led by CEO Jerry McMahon. Its lead candidate, STC-15, is an oral small-molecule inhibitor of METTL3 and is described as the first RNA‑modifying enzyme inhibitor to enter human clinical trials. STC-15 is currently being assessed as a monotherapy in a Phase 2 study for selected sarcoma indications, and the company has reported dosing the first patient in that study. In April 2026 STORM raised $56M in a Series C to support advancement of STC-15 and to enhance the Phase 2 program. The company’s core focus is developing therapies that target RNA modifications to reprogram malignant cells.
- Sonire Therapeutics
Participated · Series A · Apr 2026
Sonire Therapeutics develops a next-generation HIFU therapy system that combines real-time imaging guidance with patented technologies such as a noise-cancellation system, cavitation bubble visualization, a robot-assisted positioning platform and rapid multi-focus scanning. The system is designed to provide precise thermal ablation of tumors in an anesthesia-free, outpatient procedure that can be performed in approximately 20 minutes by a single physician. Sonire positions its therapy as a complement to chemotherapy to potentially prolong overall survival while offering a less invasive alternative to surgery or radiation. Foundational academic work with a prototype (MoonShot-2) demonstrated a 66% disease control rate in advanced or refractory pancreatic and biliary tract cancers and informed the current system. The SUNRISE-I randomized trial (HIFU with chemotherapy vs. chemotherapy alone) is ongoing across seven leading Japanese hospitals. The company holds 25 issued patents and 22 pending, was founded in February 2020 in Tokyo, and is now headquartered in Palo Alto, California; it recently raised $18 million in a Series A to advance clinical, regulatory, and commercialization efforts.
- Quali
Led · Series A · Feb 2026
Quali is a medical-robotics company focused on creating robots that support and enhance microsurgical procedures, a field that demands extremely delicate and highly skilled work under a microscope. By inheriting technology cultivated within the Sony Group’s medical robotics research, the startup is engineering products aimed at improving surgical precision, safety, and overall patient quality of life. The company’s overarching goal is to enable broader access to microsurgery by reducing the skill barrier for surgeons and facilitating the social implementation of advanced surgical technologies. Funds from its recent Series A round will be directed toward accelerating product development and clinical readiness of its microsurgery support robots. Quali positions its technology as a solution to the shortage of experienced microsurgeons and aims to integrate its systems into clinical settings worldwide. The firm’s current financial highlight is the ¥1.8 billion it secured in Series A equity financing, although no revenue or user metrics have yet been disclosed.
- Metagen Therapeutics
Participated · Series B · Sep 2025
Metagen Therapeutics is a Japanese university-spinout (Juntendo, Keio, Tokyo Tech) founded in 2020 that leverages microbiome science to create both drug products and FMT-based medical services. Its lead oral FMT candidate, MGT-006, targets ulcerative colitis and is scheduled to enter a Japan-U.S. Phase 1/2 international trial between April and June 2026. Clinically, the company has already demonstrated a 45.9 % remission-induction rate with its antibiotic-assisted FMT procedure in an advanced medical B program, with no serious adverse events observed. Additional clinical studies are under way for gastrointestinal cancers (MGT-007) and Parkinson’s disease (MGT-008). An in-house “donor stool bank” in Yamagata has collected more than 800 donations, supporting both clinical trials and eventual commercial supply. The firm also promotes social adoption of stool donation (“献便”) to secure a stable supply chain for its therapies. Cumulatively, the company has raised ¥5.46 billion, providing runway for pipeline advancement, supply-chain optimization, head-count growth and IPO preparation.
