Paul-Tech is a Tallinn-based agritech startup that gives farmers and land managers real-time insights to improve soil management. Its core product combines in-field soil sensors with a platform that integrates real-time soil data, weather and satellite data and agronomic knowledge to provide recommendations. The startup's soil sensors trace three generations of development within the founders' family, and the company was founded by Mikk Plakk, Tiit Plakk, Eve Plakk and Anu Einberg. Paul-Tech says its recommendations help farmers avoid overuse of fertilisers, prevent nutrient-starved land, increase crop yields and reduce ecological footprints. It has a customer base of over 100 farmers across Estonia, Finland, Sweden and the UK. Paul-Tech recently raised a €1.4 million Seed round to advance its product offering and to fuel expansion into the UK market.

MediNav provides an AI digital assistant that listens to doctors' dictated exam results, extracts relevant data, and inserts it into structured reports across multiple fields which the clinician then verifies and saves. The assistant handles complex exams (e.g., ultrasounds or multi-field consultations) by separating and placing information in the proper report locations and learns from corrections. The product runs on laptops, tablets or smartphones without a dedicated microphone. Radiologists using MediNav save at least 40% of the time needed to write results, and in emergencies the tool reduces ambulance-form completion time by threefold. The company plans in 2023 to add at least one more language, expand commercially to Germany and/or Latin America, and develop into more complex specialties such as cardiology and emergencies. To date MediNav has used its funding to advance product development and sales and marketing.

Meredot develops wireless fueling stations for e-scooters, composed of a Charging Station (control panel and parking pad) and an e-scooter adapter. The system transmits energy wirelessly to scooters with native capability or via Meredot’s adapter, which is installed by dealers or certified local installers at no cost to scooter owners. Meredot positions itself as a B2B mobility infrastructure provider for e-scooter operators and aims to help cities improve efficiency, environmental impact, and safety. In 2019 the company won a €50k grant for its MePower wireless charging technology, the underlying component of its stations. Over the six months prior to the article it progressed from a laboratory prototype to constructing a commercial version for operators including Bird, Lime and Bolt. It closed a $350k seed round to fund further product development, release of first commercial versions and initial pilots.
