Muon recently opened an advanced manufacturing facility in San Jose designed to produce up to 500 satellites annually by 2027 and currently has over 50 satellites in development, including 13 already manifested for launch over the next year. Foundation Alloy commercializes a solid-state alloying technique that repeatedly smashes metal powders together to create homogeneous alloys that traditional melting processes cannot achieve. The process reportedly uses around an order of magnitude less energy than conventional melting-based alloying and enables combinations of elements with very different melting points. The company has been selling bespoke metals in small batches and is running pilots with customers in automotive, aerospace, semiconductor, defense, luxury watches, and cutlery. Foundation Alloy says it is currently constrained by production capacity rather than demand and plans to scale to several tons per week by 2027 using proceeds from its Series A. XFuel develops a single-step Chemical Liquid Refining (CLR – CLEAR) process that converts waste hydrocarbon liquids into ultra-clean, drop-in transport fuels aimed at the shipping sector and other hard-to-abate industries. The company is building a modular production plant in Catalonia designed to process 16,000 tonnes of marine waste oils into 14,000 tonnes of low-carbon marine gas oil using waste-based feedstocks.
