  • DBeaver

    Participated · Seed · Apr 2023

DBeaver began as an open-source database admin tool created by Serge Rider in 2013 and the company was launched in 2017. Its core product is a GUI that connects to diverse data sources and includes extensions for big data, a data viewer, editor, mock data generator, metadata browsing, and visual query builders. The company positions its commercial product for organizations with cloud infrastructure and security requirements while the open-source edition serves individual developers. DBeaver says its user base exceeds 8 million and it has over 5,000 paying customers, including IBM, Samsung and Moody’s. The team is 40 employees and intends to remain lean, leveraging an active open-source community (which grew rapidly after the project moved to GitHub) to add features like translations. The company is taking capital to build on the product’s growing popularity and expand its commercial footprint.

  • testRigor

testRigor builds software that turns plain-English lists of user actions into automated QA testing scripts, executes them, and reports pass/fail results with reproduction steps. The product includes a Chrome extension for recording steps and a behavioral testing feature that auto-creates tests from production analytics. The company reports around 100 customers, including Netflix and other Fortune 500 companies. testRigor has 22 employees, 12 of whom were hired this year, and CEO Artem Golubev aims to grow headcount to 30 by year-end. The startup launched pre-COVID as a remote company and says it will remain fully remote. It is a member of Y Combinator's Summer 2021 cohort and has raised $5.1M to date, including the newly announced $4.1M seed.
