Overview
SCOR Ventures is a closely integrated part of SCOR’s L&H and P&C business units that invests in and partners with early stage Insurtech companies. SCOR Ventures forms collaborative, long-term partnerships with digital-first insurers, MGAs and distributors, software solutions that benefit SCOR and/or our clients, and companies that help people live healthier lives, in support of industry innovation and SCOR’s Global business. We invest across three thesis areas: Thesis 1: SCOR Ventures invests and partners in the ‘Insurers of the Future’: tech-driven underwriting companies (MGAs, carriers) that offer multiple points of digital and business model differentiation across P&C and L&H. Thesis 2: SCOR Ventures invests and partners in software solutions that benefit SCOR and/or our clients. Thesis 3: SCOR Ventures invests at the intersection of health and technology and partner with companies that help people live healthier lives, deliver in-force or claims outcome improvements, develop new business or add to SCOR’s Knowledge Center capabilities.

Novisto is a Montreal-based sustainability data management and reporting software provider that helps companies collect, audit, and report ESG data. Its platform enables customers to collect, manage, approve, disclose, and defend sustainability data in one place efficiently and securely. The company serves global clients including Emirates Group, Bombardier, Moderna, Synopsys, and Deutsche Bank. Led by CEO Charles Assaf, Novisto intends to use the new funding to further enhance its sustainability platform and accelerate market leadership within Europe. Financially, the company has now raised over $55M to date, including the $27M Series C. Novisto builds ESG data-management software described as an "ERP for ESG," enabling companies to take a data-centric approach to sustainability reporting and risk management. The platform supports global customers including Asana, Manulife, and Sanofi. The company plans to use the new funding to scale product development, grow its customer base, and expand its team across the globe. Novisto was founded in 2019 and is led by Charles Assaf. It is headquartered in Montreal and has over 100 employees across North America and Europe. The recent Series B positions the company to accelerate its product and commercial growth. Finanzguru is a digital, AI-based financial assistant and holistic advisor that connects to any online banking account in Germany. The app functions as a control centre for users’ money, letting them track income, expenses and contracts, save and invest, and take out insurance and other financial products. The company reports more than 1.5 million registered users and a team of 70 employees. Finanzguru plans to use the new funding to accelerate profitable growth in Germany, further expand its product platform, and strengthen its team. Since its launch in 2018, the startup has raised a cumulative €27M. Dwins builds Finanzguru, an artificial-intelligence driven mobile app designed to help Deutsche Bank’s clients better plan their finances and optimize individual customer needs, including contracts, debits and other financial issues. The company was co-founded by Alexander and Benjamin Michel and is based at the Deutsche Börse FinTech Hub in Frankfurt since 2015. Seven of its ten employees are located at the hub. Dwins has worked with the Deutsche Börse Venture Network, gaining introductions to potential investors as well as product feedback and user testing. Financially, the company recently completed a financing round of approximately €1M in which Deutsche Bank took a minority stake. Deutsche Bank’s investment positions the bank as a strategic investor tied to the app’s deployment for its clients. The article does not disclose additional operating metrics or other investors.

Coverflex offers a platform that aggregates multiple benefits providers to let employers design bespoke compensation packages — including health insurance, meal allowances, fringe benefits and discounts. The product aims to reduce employer costs through tax-efficient benefits while boosting employee value and financial literacy around compensation. Coverflex reports 3,600 clients and 70,000 active users who use the platform more than eight times per month on average. The company lists customers such as Santander, Natixis, OysterHR, Bolt, Emma, Revolut and Smartex. It plans to target Italy aggressively as a key European growth market. Coverflex recently completed a €15M Series A to support its expansion and product development. Coverflex is a Portugal-based HRtech founded in 2019 that provides a customisable "Compensation as a service" platform allowing employers to manage health insurance, meal allowances, fringe benefits, discount programmes and company-defined budgets. The service includes a VISA card and an app for employees to access those benefits and budgets. Coverflex positions its product as both a cost-saving administrative tool and a recruitment differentiator aimed at modernising rigid, one-size-fits-all compensation packages. Even at pre-seed stage the company has attracted notable clients including PwC, Bolt, Emma - The Sleep Company, Landing.Jobs, Startup Lisboa, Rows, Paul Stricker, Velocidi, Dott and Unbabel. The company raised €5 million in a pre-seed round led by Breega with participation from the 200M Fund and Portuguese angel investors. Coverflex says it will use the funding to support international rollout and recruitment efforts.

iLife Technologies provides a front-end Operating System (OS) for insurance carriers and agencies that consolidates critical distribution workflows in one platform. The product enables agents to generate quotes and e-apps instantly, communicate and market to clients from the CRM, and build insurance websites code-free. Used by over 11,000 agents, the OS is designed to shorten sales cycles, reduce back-office expenses, and improve customer experiences. The company was co-founded by Nelson Lee and Amit Lohia and is based in Palo Alto, CA. iLife said it will use the $17M Series A to fund product engineering and growth. It also plans to announce partnerships with top carriers and IMOs in the near future. iLife develops a platform that enables life insurance agents to set up branded "digital insurance agencies" with lower up-front costs. The company says it has cut the typical thousands-of-dollars startup cost to just $99. iLife is led by founder and CEO Nelson Lee and is based in Playa Vista. In June 2021 it raised seed financing to support growth. The company plans to use the funding to expand its team, with a particular focus on customer service, and to develop additional product features. The platform is positioned to simplify agency launch and operations for individual agents.

The software works with companies' existing CCTV systems to flag risk and dangerous behaviour before incidents occur. Protex AI aims to help protect workers and improve workplace safety procedures. The company is Y Combinator–backed and was founded by Dan Hobbs and Ciarán O’Mara. It counts clients including Marks & Spencer and plans to use new funding to expand teams, meet global demand, and grow U.S. operations.
