  • Adaptyx

    Participated · Seed · Oct 2025

Adaptyx Biosciences is building a wearable sensing platform that extends continuous monitoring beyond glucose, capturing small molecules, electrolytes, hormones, drugs, and proteins in real time. The system pairs its molecular data streams with AI-driven analytics to detect health trends early and prompt timely interventions. Initial application areas include heart-failure management, endocrine and fertility care, critical-care drug dosing, and personalized wellness. The company holds an exclusive license to IP generated over more than a decade of research at Stanford University and the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub. Current efforts focus on expanding the molecular switch pipeline, progressing clinical trials for the first indication, and scaling engineering, data-science, and clinical teams. Founded in 2022 and based in Menlo Park, California, Adaptyx’s technology remains investigational and has not yet entered commercial sales. To date, the company has secured $23 million in total funding, including the latest seed round.

  • Circulate Health

    Participated · Seed · Jul 2025

Circulate Health is building a patient-centered platform that applies advanced therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) to filter circulating microplastics, environmental toxins, and other inflammatory agents from the bloodstream. The company positions its solution as a science-backed approach to proactive longevity care, addressing systemic inflammation and oxidative stress linked to aging and chronic disease. Backed by Khosla Ventures, Circulate Health has gained early traction within the growing consumer interest in longevity treatments. CEO and co-founder Brad Younggren notes the company is experiencing strong momentum and will use fresh capital to enhance research and expand its platform. By targeting a scalable delivery model for TPE, Circulate Health aims to make the procedure more accessible to a wider population. The firm emphasizes its role at the “center” of the convergence between precision health and preventative wellness. No operating metrics such as revenue or user counts were disclosed in the announcement.

  • Somnee

    Participated · Seed · Jun 2025

Somnee builds an AI-powered neurotech headband that uses proprietary EEG+ and AI technology to map brain activity and deliver personalized, non-invasive stimulation to guide users into deeper, faster sleep. Clinical study results reported faster sleep onset (twice as fast), over 30 minutes longer sleep, and a one-third reduction in tossing and turning; the company says it outperforms melatonin, CBT‑i, and Ambien in those measures. Its therapeutic approach is backed by clinical studies and covered by 24 patents. Somnee is preparing to launch a second-generation headband and a SmartSleep AI operating system that enables personalized brain mapping, real-time monitoring, and AI-powered interventions throughout the sleep cycle. The second-generation product is in beta pilots with select NBA teams and performance staff, and the company has partnerships with Equinox Hotels and NBA programs. Somnee has relocated manufacturing out of China and expanded teams in Berkeley and India as it scales to address the sleep-aid market.

  • Paterna Biosciences

    Participated · Seed · Oct 2024

Paterna BioSciences is a Salt Lake City biotechnology company focused on solving male infertility through in vitro spermatogenesis (IVS). Its core technology aims to grow healthy sperm in the laboratory from a male’s own cells as a novel treatment option. The company plans to partner with IVF clinics to enhance success rates, engage men in optimizing reproductive health, and expand treatment options for IVF. Paterna intends to use recently raised capital to accelerate IVS through preclinical development, build infrastructure, and grow its team. The company raised $6M in a Seed round. Paterna expects to enter early-phase studies in 2025 and ultimately bring its solution to market following FDA approval.

  • ZBiotics

    Participated · Series A · Aug 2024

ZBiotics positions itself as the world’s first maker of genetically engineered probiotics, building consumer-facing products that add new functionality to the human body. Its flagship Pre-Alcohol Probiotic Drink mimics the liver by breaking down acetaldehyde, the toxic byproduct of alcohol. The company is led by a team of Ph.D. scientists and emphasizes transparent, responsible genetic engineering for consumer use. ZBiotics has more than doubled sales each year, sold over 5 million units cumulatively, and reached company-wide profitability in 2023. It plans to expand into physical retail and use R&D to bring additional use-case probiotics to market. In the near term it will launch a second product focused on microbial diversity in the gut and is exploring products targeting sleep, vaginal health, and athletic performance. ZBiotics develops genetically engineered probiotics designed to deliver new biological functions in the gut. Its first product is a probiotic that mimics liver function in the gut to neutralize toxic alcohol byproducts. The company is pursuing additional engineered strains aimed at helping the body resist environmental toxins and infections (for example, lead-contaminated water and radiation) and at producing useful nutrients such as fiber and high-quality protein. ZBiotics is led by CEO Zack Abbott, PhD. The company said it will use the new funding to accelerate product development, hire new executives and drive sales growth. ZBiotics is based in San Francisco and has raised a total of $5.7M to date. Zbiotics has developed a genetically engineered probiotic that expresses an enzyme to break down acetaldehyde, the toxic byproduct of alcohol believed to cause hangover symptoms. The product is intended to be taken before or during drinking rather than after. To date the team has demonstrated function in vitro and through limited self-testing, but has not completed placebo-controlled, peer-reviewed human clinical trials. The founders say they have spent over a year on safety testing and will comply with U.S. regulatory frameworks before launching. They are drafting a human clinical protocol with hangover-research expert Dr. Joris Verster and plan a crowdfunding campaign to support a consumer launch in the U.S. The company is building a flexible gene-editing probiotic platform designed to target additional use-cases beyond hangovers.
