- Zenreach
Participated · Series B · Jul 2016
Zenreach supplies businesses with a Wi‑Fi router that prompts customers to register with an email address, phone number or Facebook account. The product builds a customer database that lets merchants create targeted promotions and segment messages for new, loyal or lapsed customers. Because Zenreach can recognize registered devices, it helps businesses measure when marketing efforts actually bring people back into stores. The company reports it collects an average of 10 email addresses per day for each business and says the solution works across industries including coffee shops, doctor offices, spas and auto repair. Zenreach has made notable hires recently, including former Groupon VP Zach Finley and Derek Seibert, who held a number of roles at Uber. The company recently raised a $30M Series C and has now raised a total of $80M. Zenreach provides Wi‑Fi hardware to restaurants and coffee shops on a monthly subscription basis and helps merchants run email promotions using the address customers sign up with when they log on. The company says it has built up firewalls to make its public Wi‑Fi extra secure. Zenreach tracks a metric it calls the “walk through rate,” which tells merchants when customers return because phones will default to previously used Wi‑Fi. Founder and CEO Jack Abraham says the company builds a set of tools and a platform entirely around merchants’ needs and is helping power the free Wi‑Fi wave for consumers. Zenreach positions itself as merchant‑first compared with consumer‑focused services like Yelp and Foursquare. The company has grown to about 150 employees in roughly three years. Adentro has raised $106.72M over seven funding rounds. The company's most recent financing was a $12.72M Series C - III on November 13, 2023. Deal-structure records are available for four funding rounds, including a Series C entry dated March 23, 2017. Adentro has 18 listed investors, and 8VC is recorded as a participant in the Series C - III round. The most recent post-money valuation on record is from July 2016, when it was listed at $50–$80M.
- Tempo Automation
Participated · Series A · Jun 2016
Tempo Automation offers a turnkey circuit board manufacturing solution that allows manufacturers to upload a CAD and receive a finished circuit board in as little as three days. Its services are tailored for low-volume manufacturers and serve customers across aerospace, consumer electronics, automotive, and medical technology. The company centers software automation and an interconnected smart factory to accelerate production and improve customer experience. Founded in 2013 and based in San Francisco, Tempo recently raised $45 million in a Series C. The company said it will use the Series C to hire and to develop software intended to make its manufacturing process quicker and more accurate. Its prior institutional financing was a $20 million Series B in 2018. Tempo Automation offers quick-turn prototype manufacturing, converting design files into physical circuit boards with a three-day turnaround. The company built an automated process optimized for low-volume runs rather than high-volume production lines. Tempo’s stated mission is to let electronics development move as fast as software development, and it focuses on startups and new IoT manufacturers. Its offering was well received, attracting customers from early hardware startups to unnamed large consumer electronics companies. Demand has exceeded capacity—the company says its factory was blown out in a matter of months and is already at capacity. Tempo plans to use new funding to improve and expand its current manufacturing facility to address that constraint.
- Guildery
Participated · Seed · May 2015
Guildery sells digitally printed fabrics and home accessories such as pillows, drapes, ottomans and lampshades through an online storefront. Its online editor lets users virtually drape fabrics over items and place pieces side-by-side, and upcoming tools will let consumers customize fabric colors using pre-configured palettes or their own colors. The company built backend automation to take in artwork and automatically generate patterns and color variations, enabling hundreds of thousands of combinations per pattern. At launch it offered 40,000 SKUs and has grown licensed designers to over 100, expanding its print selection; shoppers can also request printed fabric samples and swatch books. Guildery is pursuing a retail strategy with a pop-up shop in Los Altos, Calif., and a shop-within-a-shop pilot at Anyon Atelier in San Francisco for wholesale customers. Pricing sits at the higher end of the market similar to Restoration Hardware; the company declined to disclose customer counts or sales volume, and it currently employs a team of ten full-time staff.
- Fatherly
Led · Seed · Apr 2015
Fatherly was created by Mike Rothman and Simon Isaacs and launched after several months in beta to serve new and expecting fathers with tailored parenting content. The site publishes expert-driven articles and features contributors including Esther Perel, Stewart Friedman, and Timothy Dahl, plus interviews such as one with Malala Yousafzai’s father. Content ranges from practical gear recommendations to expert answers for kids’ questions, and the founders plan personalization via an age-based sign-up option (not yet enabled). Fatherly also incorporates an e-commerce component that sends age-specific product recommendations to subscribers. The team includes two full-time editors based in a New York City office and a broader network of contributors producing most content. The company recently completed a seed funding round, providing early financial backing for growth.
