Evident offers a SaaS platform that extracts and digitizes data from certificates of insurance and other evidence to provide initial verification and ongoing monitoring of third-party insurance. Its solution automates verification, compliance remediation, verification decisioning, and insured re-engagement to reduce third-party risk and improve compliance rates. The company serves enterprise customers across grocery, retail, convenience stores, manufacturing, lending and transportation. Evident says recent product milestones enable automation of more than 90% of the insurance verification process. It has formed strategic partnerships with insurers including Vouch Insurance and NEXT Insurance to connect enterprise customers and vendors with coverage solutions. The company positions its automated approach as an alternative to costly, error-prone home-grown systems and traditional service providers. Evident ID operates an Identity Assurance Platform that verifies identity and credentials holistically by connecting to thousands of authoritative sources via a single API. The platform assesses online and offline factors—business licenses, biometrics, insurance, criminal history and more—and supports step-up and continuous verification with end-to-end cryptography. Evident emphasizes privacy-preserving machine learning and computer vision, including facial recognition, to reduce friction while mitigating fraud. The company reports 300% year-over-year customer growth, which investors cited as a key driver for the latest financing. With the new capital, Evident plans to deepen investments in AI, machine learning, computer vision and facial recognition technologies. It will also expand its team to meet rising demand across marketplaces and high-volume, sensitive applications. Evident is targeting additional growth in industries including insurance, healthcare and financial services. Evident offers a cloud-based platform that enables businesses and individuals to manage and share verified personal data using cryptography. Led by founder and CEO David Thomas, the company provides verified personal data sharing tools for both enterprises and consumers. Evident is based in Atlanta, GA and currently serves customers in 65 cities across 23 countries. In September 2017 the company raised $8.8M in a Series A financing. The company said it will use the funds to continue to expand operations across its customer footprint. The product and expansion focus target greater adoption of verified personal-data exchange and cryptographic protections.
- Synthesis AI
Participated · Series A · Apr 2022
Synthesis AI offers a cloud platform that produces labeled synthetic image data using AI, procedural generation and VFX rendering to train computer-vision models. The platform can generate diverse digital humans and customizable avatars, and the company says it has delivered over 10 million labeled images and produced datasets such as roughly 100,000 synthetic people for customers. Customers span AR/VR, metaverse, robotics, consumer devices and automotive driver/occupant sensing, including Fortune 50 clients. Synthesis plans to launch new products targeting photo enhancement, teleconferencing, smart homes and smart assistants while expanding research into mixed real and synthetic data. The company emphasizes ethical development—arguing synthetic data can reduce bias and preserve privacy—while acknowledging limitations of synthetic-only training. Synthesis currently has 20 employees and plans to scale to 50 by the end of the year. Synthesis AI is a San Francisco-based provider of synthetic data-as-a-service that builds synthetic image datasets to train computer vision models. The company uses a proprietary combination of generative neural networks and cinematic CGI pipelines to programmatically create vast amounts of labeled image data at speed. Its platform scales in the cloud from research and development phases with small amounts of data to production requirements of terabytes of data. Synthesis AI has launched FaceAPI, an on-demand product that can generate millions of perfectly labeled human images; FaceAPI is generally available and is currently in use by major technology and handset manufacturers. The company raised $4.5M in additional funding and intends to use the proceeds to add to its R&D teams. The round was led by existing investors including Bee Partners, PJC, iRobot Ventures, Swift Ventures, Boom Capital, Kubera VC and Leta Capital.

- Luminous Computing
Participated · Series A · Mar 2022
Luminous is developing a custom AI supercomputer stack centered on proprietary silicon photonics to eliminate data‑movement bottlenecks and improve performance and programmability. The company is building nearly every part of the stack from chips to software, aiming for order‑of‑magnitude gains in performance and simplified programming models. Luminous says its work will enable much larger, more efficient AI models and support commercial‑scale AI applications. The company plans to double its engineering team and is actively recruiting photonics designers, digital and analog VLSI engineers, packaging and system integration engineers, and machine learning experts. Funding announced in the articles will support custom chip and software development and gearing up for commercial production. Luminous frames its mission around delivering useful, usable, and safe AI by providing the hardware needed to run tomorrow’s AI applications. Luminous Computing is developing photonics chips designed to handle AI workloads by using light to move and multiply dense arrays of data at high speed. The company says its approach will remove major bottlenecks that traditional processors struggle with, and its architecture is based on CTO Mitchell Nahmias’ Princeton research. The one-year-old, seven-person startup was founded by Michael Gao, CEO Marcus Gomez and Nahmias; Gomez and Gao have prior software and data-science experience. Luminous reports it already has working silicon and aims to ship development kits within the next few years. The company claims a single chip could replace the computing power of roughly 3,000 Google TPUs.
