Founded in 2022 by former Canoo and QuantumScape employees, Los Angeles-based Harbinger focuses exclusively on producing electric medium-duty commercial truck chassis. The streamlined product strategy has enabled the startup to move from inception to production in just three years, with manufacturing beginning this year. Harbinger has already sold more than 200 chassis in 2024 and secured an additional order for 53 units from FedEx that are slated for delivery by year-end. The company also collaborates with RV giant THOR Industries and recently expanded into the Canadian market. Capital from recent fundraises will be used to scale production capacity for its commercial vehicle program. With logistics firms seeking zero-emission solutions, Harbinger positions itself as a leader in the medium-duty segment. Prior to its latest round, the company raised a $100 million Series B in January, underscoring strong investor confidence in its growth trajectory.

Lightship designs and manufactures aerodynamic, battery-powered all-electric RV trailers, notably the Lightship L1, which features a large battery energy storage system, electric propulsion, and enough solar to power the vehicle for a week off-grid. The company sells directly to U.S. consumers through its website. Lightship opened a new production facility in Broomfield, Colorado to scale manufacturing. It intends to accelerate production of the L1 to meet strong demand and anticipates creating engineering and manufacturing jobs as it scales. The company was founded in 2020 by CEO Toby Kraus. Lightship, co-founded in May 2021 by Ben Parker and Toby Kraus, is designing an all-electric towable travel trailer that replaces propane and noisy generators and aims to restore long-range EV roadtrips. The company is building an EV skateboard architecture and a trailer powertrain that includes a battery pack comparable to a Tesla Model 3 and is exploring roof-mounted solar for passive charging. Parker (CEO) and Kraus (COO) drew product insights from a 6,000-mile RV road trip and prior work at Tesla and Proterra; the broader team includes alumni from Tesla, Proterra, Apple and Rivian. Lightship has roughly 20 employees and plans to double the team using new capital while developing an alpha prototype. The product goal is to reduce or eliminate towing-related range loss by letting the trailer propel itself and offload energy demand from the tow vehicle. The company remains in stealth and has not yet publicly shown its trailer design.
