- The Easy Company
Participated · Seed · Jan 2023
The Easy Company has launched a public beta of a consumer-focused “social” crypto wallet available on iOS and Android after a 30-day private test. Its wallet emphasizes user-curated profiles, social discovery, and Instagram-like NFT presentation where users can swipe to view their own and watched NFTs. Features include cross-chain compatibility (currently Ethereum and Polygon), a Signal rating system for community reviews and fraud-flagging, the ability to link social identities and send crypto to usernames, and open-sourced wallet code. The product is positioned to bring web2-style consumer design to web3 while preserving decentralized wallet functionality. The company plans to expand blockchain support to additional chains and continue building out social product features. Financially, The Easy Company completed a $14.2M seed financing to fund those product and blockchain expansion plans.
- CommonStock
Participated · Seed · Aug 2020
Commonstock is a San Francisco–based, broker-agnostic social platform that amplifies the best investing knowledge. Led by founder and CEO David McDonough, the network verifies top investors by actual track records to surface signal over noise. Members can link existing brokerage accounts to share real-time portfolio percentages, performance, and trades (percent-only; dollar amounts are never shared). The product sends real-time alerts when friends buy or sell so users can copy trades and participate in discussions about investment theses and industry takedowns. The company raised $25M in a Series A and intends to use the funds to continue building out its platform. Commonstock is a social investing platform founded in 2017 by David McDonough and based in San Francisco. The product lets users link any brokerage to share holdings by percentage, receive real-time alerts when friends buy or sell, copy each other’s trades, invest together, and compete. It is available for free on the web and via an iPhone app, with an Android app forthcoming; the platform matches users with experts and provides live feeds including memos, market news, and full-feature chat. The company currently operates a free model but plans to introduce a subscription offering for creators and users. Commonstock has a team of 15 employees and expects to double headcount by year-end; more than 10,000 investors use the platform and over $300 million was traded through the platform in beta. The company is focused on building out its Android app, scaling the platform, and adding functionality and support for creators and users.
