  • Fluence Technology

    Participated · Seed · Aug 2025

Fluence Technology produces compact, shock‑resistant, fibre-based femtosecond lasers with a nearly zero failure rate in their key pulse source, delivering maintenance‑free performance previously limited to research labs. Its systems are used by leading electronics manufacturers in East Asia and the United States for applications such as microvias, micromachining of silicon, gallium nitride and silicon carbide, interposers, photonic components, micro‑LED displays, consumer electronics parts, and medical devices. The company was founded by four Polish physicists and is led by CEO Dr. Michał Nejbauer. Fluence says its lasers enable higher precision and reliability needed for advanced chip and semiconductor manufacturing and other emerging applications. The company plans to accelerate international expansion, scale its business, and broaden application areas including security, space, and military uses. Financially, Fluence recently closed a seed round to fund that international growth and technology development.

  • Femtum

    Participated · Seed · Jan 2024

Femtum develops laser technologies and solutions aimed at advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The company positions its technology as enabling critical laser processes needed for next-generation chips powering the AI era. After closing an oversubscribed $16M Series A, Femtum plans to accelerate deployment of its laser technologies. Cathay Venture's participation is noted as helping the company deepen its presence in the global semiconductor ecosystem, particularly in Taiwan. The company described the financing as a milestone and credited investor introductions and CFO Francois Courteau for executing the round.

  • Deep Detection

    Led · Equity · Nov 2021

Deep Detection is a Barcelona-based IFAE technology spin-out that builds multi-spectral X-ray cameras for quality control and product safety in manufacturing. Its core product, PhotonAi, is an X-ray camera that fits into X-ray machines to inspect products, detect foreign materials including low-density plastics, and ensure production standards. The company intends to accelerate industrialisation of PhotonAI technology in key market sectors, starting with food and beverage in 2022. It plans to develop value-added solutions for the food and beverage industry using this technology platform and to complete a series of industrial PoCs with international corporations to validate the technology. First commercial sales are anticipated in 2022 after the PoCs. Financially, Deep Detection raised €1m in funding to support these efforts; the round was led by Vigo Ventures with participation from Tech Transfer Agrifood (managed by Clave Capital) and ESOM.
