- YottaMark
Led · Series D · Aug 2012
YottaMark is a Redwood City, CA-based provider of a fresh food traceability and insights platform called HarvestMark. HarvestMark provides analytics and visibility that enable food suppliers to optimize the supply chain and connect directly with shoppers to build brand trust and loyalty. Its solutions are used by 300 brands sourcing fresh food from 4,000 farms across Canada to Argentina. Customers include The Kroger Co., Driscoll's Strawberry Associates, Sun World and Calavo. The company intends to use the $24M Series D capital to accelerate its sales and marketing efforts. YottaMark is led by CEO J. Scott Carr and sells HarvestMark solutions to large produce companies and retailers. YottaMark has developed a low-cost tracking system that uses printable 12-digit codes on labels or packaging to trace produce from farm to grocery store. Consumers can visit a website, send a text message, or submit a photo of the label to receive information on where produce was grown, when it shipped, and points along its journey. The company positions this transparency as reassurance for retailers and consumers and as a marketing claim for produce brands. Because the system relies on printable codes rather than RFID, YottaMark says the technology can be deployed on every unit sold. The company is also targeting electronics manufacturers concerned about counterfeits, though it has not yet announced customers in that space. YottaMark raised financing to expand sales and marketing efforts.
- INVIDI Technologies
Participated · Series D · May 2010
Invidi develops software applications and a digital set-top box application that deliver targeted advertising and personalized marketing messages to individual TV viewers. Its technology enables the sales of digital products and services such as VOD, PVR, pay-per-view events, internet, voice, wireless services, and triple-play offers. The company has distribution agreements with Dish Network and DirecTV and its technology was trialed in Comcast’s Baltimore system, where addressable ads proved 65% more efficient and 32% more effective. Founded in 2000, Invidi recently secured over $23 million in Series D financing led by Google. As part of the funding, Shishir Mehrotra of Google TV Ads and YouTube Ads joined Invidi’s board, and Google committed to collaborating on TV-ad products with potential integration into Android-based TV software. The round should support expansion of Invidi’s addressable TV-ad offerings and commercial partnerships. Invidi builds technology to target advertisements to individual TV set-top boxes. Its platform targets ads based on age, gender, location, income and ethnicity by analyzing remote-control usage, ratings, program-guide information and census data. The company is based in Princeton, NJ. Earlier capital came from EnerTech Capital, InterWest Partners and Menlo Ventures. Those earlier investors returned to participate in a new $25 million investment led by WPP. No revenue or user metrics were disclosed in the articles.
