The company has raised roughly $1.6 billion from investors such as Nvidia, AMD Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, Oracle, Cisco, Radical Ventures, Inovia Capital, and PSP Investments. Cohere announced plans to merge with Aleph Alpha to create a transatlantic sovereign AI provider anchored in Germany and Canada, with deployment of the sovereign offering on STACKIT, Schwarz Digits’ cloud infrastructure. The merger and the $600 million structured financing commitment from Schwarz Group are aimed at serving governments and regulated industries seeking AI sovereignty. Both Cohere and Aleph Alpha were founded in 2019, and the combined entity is positioned to offer an alternative to dominant US-based AI providers.
