The platform serves customers including AppFolio, HotDoc, Pitch, Teamflow, and Kumospace. Daily positions its APIs for use cases across verticals such as ecommerce, customer support, IoT and robotics. Led by co‑founder and CEO Kwindla Hultman Kramer, the company emphasizes simplifying WebRTC for developers. Daily said it will use the new funding to expand and grow its video and audio API offerings. Following the round, the company has raised more than $60M to date. Daily.co builds a WebRTC-powered video chat API that developers can quickly integrate into their products and websites. The company began in 2015 and went through Y Combinator in 2016, originally funding itself by selling a video-conferencing hardware box while it developed its API. Daily.co launched its video chat API in 2019 and did not grow headcount that year, but expanded staffing quickly in 2020 as usage spiked. The startup charges a hybrid pricing model (a small SaaS fee plus usage costs) and reports attractive gross margins with levers to manage bandwidth costs. Usage grew roughly 12x over a recent six-week period, and the company says it is seeing increased interest from larger enterprise customers, which could drive further growth but require additional hand-holding and staff. Pluot combines a hardware and software system to bring boardroom-quality video conferencing to small businesses, with access via desktop, mobile, or an installable conference-room device. The company gives away its conference-room hardware for free and charges its service at $50 per month. Pluot aims to make high-quality conferencing affordable using off-the-shelf components that lowered camera, speaker, and compute costs. The founders, Kwindla Kramer and Doug Brunton, previously worked at video-conferencing companies and drew on that experience—Kramer later launched Oblong Industries. Pluot is a Y Combinator alum and was founded to serve the growing number of distributed teams and remote workers. The team estimates a market opportunity of roughly 100 million rooms that could be equipped with video-conferencing and screen-sharing equipment.
