Participated · Series B · Nov 2021
Daily offers APIs that enable developers to add real-time video and audio features—using as little as two lines of code—for use cases including calls, webinars, live classes, e-commerce, customer support, IoT and robotics. Since its 2015 founding, Daily has built a customer base that includes AppFolio, HotDoc, Pitch, Kumospace and Teamflow, and customers report up to 80% fewer video call errors after adopting the platform. Over an 18-month period the company saw rapid growth, with 10x–30x increases in metrics such as traffic volume, freemium sign-ups, paid usage and customers scaling applications. Daily is HIPAA-compliant and has seen accelerated adoption in healthcare and other new video use cases like live commerce and education. The company has been hiring senior product and engineering leaders and plans to use new funding to expand its team and push global infrastructure closer to the network edge. Total disclosed funding now exceeds $60 million. Daily is a developer platform that provides real-time audio and video APIs and offers either a prebuilt UI or the tools to build custom video experiences. Developers can embed a two-line-code video call widget that includes video chat, screen sharing and recording, or build custom layouts with control over audio and video tracks. Daily runs global infrastructure with regionally distributed servers to reduce latency, supports HIPAA compliance, and lets customers restrict media to specific regions (for example, keeping packets inside the EU). The platform integrates with transcription and streaming APIs and exposes call-quality insights via a developer dashboard. Over the past year Daily reported roughly a 20x increase in paying customers and a 30x increase in revenue, driven by demand across remote work, virtual events, telehealth and customer support. Customers include startups and enterprises such as Tandem, Teamflow, Pitch, GitDuck and Flo Recruit.
- Daily.co
Participated · Series B · Nov 2021
Daily provides a WebRTC developer platform that handles the complexities of real-time video and audio, allowing developers to rapidly add video calls, audio-only apps, webinars, live classes, and interactive collaboration to products. The platform serves customers including AppFolio, HotDoc, Pitch, Teamflow, and Kumospace. Daily positions its APIs for use cases across verticals such as ecommerce, customer support, IoT and robotics. Led by co‑founder and CEO Kwindla Hultman Kramer, the company emphasizes simplifying WebRTC for developers. Daily said it will use the new funding to expand and grow its video and audio API offerings. Following the round, the company has raised more than $60M to date. Daily.co builds a WebRTC-powered video chat API that developers can quickly integrate into their products and websites. The company began in 2015 and went through Y Combinator in 2016, originally funding itself by selling a video-conferencing hardware box while it developed its API. Daily.co launched its video chat API in 2019 and did not grow headcount that year, but expanded staffing quickly in 2020 as usage spiked. The startup charges a hybrid pricing model (a small SaaS fee plus usage costs) and reports attractive gross margins with levers to manage bandwidth costs. Usage grew roughly 12x over a recent six-week period, and the company says it is seeing increased interest from larger enterprise customers, which could drive further growth but require additional hand-holding and staff. Pluot combines a hardware and software system to bring boardroom-quality video conferencing to small businesses, with access via desktop, mobile, or an installable conference-room device. The company gives away its conference-room hardware for free and charges its service at $50 per month. Pluot aims to make high-quality conferencing affordable using off-the-shelf components that lowered camera, speaker, and compute costs. The founders, Kwindla Kramer and Doug Brunton, previously worked at video-conferencing companies and drew on that experience—Kramer later launched Oblong Industries. Pluot is a Y Combinator alum and was founded to serve the growing number of distributed teams and remote workers. The team estimates a market opportunity of roughly 100 million rooms that could be equipped with video-conferencing and screen-sharing equipment.
- Meroxa
Participated · Series A · Apr 2021
Meroxa offers a single SaaS platform that connects relational and NoSQL databases to data warehouses and helps businesses operationalize real-time data streams. The company uses change data capture to capture granular data as it happens and can expose those streams as API endpoints or webhooks. Its architecture writes data into an intermediate stream rather than a point-to-point connection, enabling multiple connectors, filtering, transfers (e.g., to S3) and the building of real-time tools on top of the stream. Meroxa relies on open-source tools and has committed to open-sourcing everything in its data plane to align incentives with customers. Financially, Meroxa announced a $15M Series A and previously raised a $4.2M seed, bringing total funding to $19.2M. Founded in early 2020, the company is 100% remote with more than 24 employees and emphasizes diversity across its team.
- nTopology
Participated · Series C · Sep 2020
nTopology offers CAD software designed for engineers across industrial design, aerospace, automotive and medical sectors, with a focus on leveraging additive manufacturing/3D printing. The company recently released v3.0 of its software and has around 300 clients, including Ford, Lockheed Martin and Honeywell. It has partnered with Stratasys to create an FDM Assembly Fixture Generator for additive workflows. nTopology raised a $65M Series D and has now brought total funding to $135M. The company says the new capital will be used to expand its international reach and develop additional software features. Product and go-to-market efforts appear centered on removing legacy CAD bottlenecks and enabling engineers to utilize advanced manufacturing processes. nTopology provides the nTop Platform to empower engineers to design products. The software is used at hundreds of engineering companies by thousands of engineers on advanced projects in the aerospace, automotive, medical, and consumer industries. nTopology is based in New York. The company raised $40M in a Series C equity round to support growth. It intends to use the funds to expand its business reach. Insight Partners’ Josh Fredberg will join nTopology’s Board of Directors as part of the financing. nTopology develops nTop, an engineering design platform that uses advanced mathematical representations to model 3D solids and generate complex lattice structures and foams for 3D printing and high-performance parts. Its software lets engineers query exact distances within a 3D solid and account for physical factors like heat flow and radio interactions, enabling lighter, more efficient designs. The company has customers including Lockheed Martin, Daimler, Disney and the U.S. Department of Defense, with applications in aerospace, medical devices, and consumer electronics. nTopology reported just over $1 million in revenue last year. With the new funding the company plans to expand its design capabilities and increase its customer base to capture opportunities in the global manufacturing market.
- Ntop
Participated · Series C · Sep 2020
nTop develops nTop Platform, an engineering design software built on an implicit modeling engine that can handle high-complexity geometries while keeping file sizes small. The platform emphasizes field-driven design for precise spatial control and reusable workflows that let teams encapsulate and redeploy engineering knowledge. Its software is used at hundreds of engineering companies by thousands of engineers on advanced projects across aerospace, automotive, medical, and consumer industries. nTop positions its product to be used alongside traditional CAD rather than replace it, addressing problems that legacy tools cannot scale to solve. The company expects that within five years around 30% of parts will be produced using additive or other advanced manufacturing processes and anticipates nTop Platform will be used to design the majority of those parts. nTop recently closed a $40M Series C to help make its advanced engineering software accessible to more engineers and to scale the product.
