EraDrive is a California-based startup spun out of Stanford University that is building artificial-intelligence modules to give spacecraft the ability to operate autonomously. Its software and hardware allow satellites to avoid collisions, maintain safe distances, execute proximity maneuvers, control orbits, and fly in formation without continuous human commands. The company was founded by Sumant Sharma, Justin Kruger, and Stanford professor Simone D’Amico. With its technology, EraDrive aims to reduce operators’ reliance on ground control, lowering operational costs and enhancing mission flexibility. The newly secured funding will finance the first production runs of its autonomy modules, extend capabilities for low-Earth-orbit missions, and expand the engineering team. EraDrive is also forming partnerships with satellite manufacturers, commercial operators, and defense stakeholders to integrate its systems into upcoming missions.
