Vuorimiehentie 2, Espoo, Uusimaa, 02150, Finland
Overview
Granarium Technologies, originating from VTT in Espoo, develops first-of-its-kind supercapacitors built on a nanocellulose-based material platform that upcycles waste wood and agro residues into renewable energy storage devices. Its technology is patented and validated at TRL5, and VTT has transferred the underlying IP to the company. Granarium positions its devices as a fast-response layer that complements batteries for grid balancing, frequency response, peak-load management and industrial power quality. The company has secured pilot customers and value-chain partners and plans to launch pilots within six months of funding. Initial commercial production will begin at a small industrial scale with capacity to deliver up to 50 units per year, supporting planned scale-up through industrial partnerships and international market expansion. Granarium aims to enable local, low-emission production using forest-industry side streams and high-consistency nanocellulose.
