- Granarium Technologies
Led · Seed · Jun 2026
Granarium Technologies, originating from VTT in Espoo, develops first-of-its-kind supercapacitors built on a nanocellulose-based material platform that upcycles waste wood and agro residues into renewable energy storage devices. Its technology is patented and validated at TRL5, and VTT has transferred the underlying IP to the company. Granarium positions its devices as a fast-response layer that complements batteries for grid balancing, frequency response, peak-load management and industrial power quality. The company has secured pilot customers and value-chain partners and plans to launch pilots within six months of funding. Initial commercial production will begin at a small industrial scale with capacity to deliver up to 50 units per year, supporting planned scale-up through industrial partnerships and international market expansion. Granarium aims to enable local, low-emission production using forest-industry side streams and high-consistency nanocellulose.
- WholeSum
Participated · Seed · Apr 2026
WholeSum offers an API-first hybrid AI and statistical inference platform designed to convert large volumes of unstructured text into uncertainty-aware, reproducible, and auditable insights. The company targets high-trust, regulated sectors such as pharmaceuticals, financial services, healthcare, and defence where reproducibility and methodological rigour are critical. Founded by Emily Kucharski and Dr Adam Kucharski, WholeSum has seen early traction with pilots and enterprise integrations across universities, financial institutions, and pharmaceutical companies. Financially, the startup has brought its total Pre-Seed funding to $1.3 million after the recent $335,000 top-up, which follows an earlier $965,000 raise led by Twin Path Ventures. The company plans to use funds to accelerate R&D, hire scientific and engineering talent, and scale deployments for increasingly complex, large-scale datasets.
- Renewcast
Participated · Seed · Jan 2024
Renewcast provides AI-powered forecasting solutions for the renewable energy sector using proprietary digital twin technology to model weather patterns and asset conditions for intra-day, day-ahead, and multi-day forecasts. The platform serves utilities, grid operators, and renewable asset managers, and has over 1.8 GW of installed renewable capacity under active clients. The company runs more than 10 pilot programs and serves four commercial clients in Europe and the US, and it reports having scaled more than 2.5x year-on-year. Renewcast consistently outperforms legacy systems with 20–40% improved accuracy and is credited with generating millions in annual value through reduced balancing costs. The business plans to accelerate global commercial rollout across Europe, the US, Latin America, India, and Asia, consolidate its tech team, and ramp up commercial efforts. Renewcast was founded in 2020 and is preparing for a Series A in late 2026. Renewcast develops advanced wind power generation forecasting delivered through a fully automated Azure Cloud–based platform. The company says its forecasts offer materially higher accuracy — a cited customer reported 20–30% better reliability versus their benchmark. Renewcast targets utilities and corporate clients and aims to serve a global portfolio of customers. The team is led by CEO and founder Fabio Nicoló and counts strategic partners such as MindTitan. The company plans to use new funding to accelerate market penetration and enhance its technological capabilities. Quotes from investors highlight the large market opportunity driven by fluctuating energy prices and the need for reliable renewable production forecasting.
