LEX Markets
350 5th Avenue Suite 4805, New York, NY, 10118, United States
Overview
LEX Markets operates a marketplace that turns individual buildings into tradable public-style stocks, allowing U.S. investors to buy shares of specific income-generating properties. Shareholders can earn income quarterly and can trade their shares on LEX’s public market; each building on the platform has a ticker symbol and stock chart. The platform opened to over 10,000 waitlisted investors in November 2021, has overseen two building IPOs, and now allows any U.S. investor to open an account. LEX’s stated mission is to democratize the $17 trillion U.S. commercial real estate market by improving access and liquidity. The company plans to use new capital to add properties to its proprietary platform, scale its marketplace activities with property owners and investors, and grow its engineering, marketing, sales, and real estate teams. LEX aims to expand investment opportunities and bring larger real estate deals to market faster. LEX is a real estate fintech company building the first commercial real estate securities marketplace available to retail investors. Its platform will enable everyday Americans to buy and sell shares of individual commercial properties issued under Regulation A. The shares will be publicly traded partnership interests, allowing pass-through tax benefits and initial pricing at $100 per security when offered. LEX provides tools to research and compare properties and aims to let property owners unlock equity while retaining operational control. The marketplace is designed to increase liquidity and deliver more accurate, current asset valuations for individual properties. LEX closed $4M in seed financing co-led by Greycroft and Thor Equities.
