dataplor provides global POI and mobility data, combining AI, machine learning, and human validation to keep datasets accurate and current. The company offers monthly refreshed, privacy-compliant foot-traffic data alongside a proprietary POI dataset covering over 350 million POIs in more than 250 countries and territories. dataplor serves dozens of enterprise customers, including multiple Fortune 100 companies, across sectors such as technology, retail, logistics, CPG, mapping, real estate, and finance. The company emphasizes a privacy-first approach, ensuring no personally identifiable information (PII) is used. With new capital, dataplor plans to expand geographic coverage, enrich its product suite, and accelerate customer integration and product growth. Dataplor aggregates and licenses global points-of-interest (POI) data using a purpose-built platform that combines AI, machine learning, large language models and a network of human validators. The company recruits and trains over 100,000 human validators, called Explorers, and does not use personally identifiable information. Its dataset includes more than 300 million POI records across over 15,000 brands in 200+ countries and territories. Dataplor licenses data to customers across logistics, real estate and finance, with clients such as American Express, Zettle and PayPal and more than 35 Fortune 500 users. Founded in 2016, the company has grown revenue by an average of 2.5x year-over-year since 2020 and is on track for profitability this year. Dataplor plans to use new capital to make strategic hires and accelerate sales and brand presence to grow faster. dataPlor is a Los Angeles, CA–based provider of business location data focused on growing economies. Dataplor says it has helped get 150,000 businesses onto Google in its three years of operation and employs a 13-person core team. The company emphasizes paying Explorers above-market wages rather than using a low-cost gig model. Dataplor launched in Mexico, bootstrapped its way into Brazil, and plans to expand to Chile, Peru and Colombia in 2019. Its tech and Explorer logistics are positioned as services that could interest platform companies seeking improved local data coverage.

  • Loora

    Participated · Series A · Feb 2024

Loora offers an iOS app that has users chat with a conversational AI which gives feedback on grammar, pronunciation and accent and provides translations when users get stuck. The app personalizes conversations using a proficiency score and offers scenario-based topics ranging from business and tech to interviews and presentations. Founded by Roy Mor and Yonti Levin, Loora says it trains and optimizes its models using only its own data and a bespoke training and evaluation system. The company charges $15 per month or $120 per year, has about 15,000 app users, and reported 8x growth in annual recurring revenue in 2023. Loora currently has 14 employees and plans to expand to 25 by the end of 2024 while developing an Android app and deepening its core AI and conversational capabilities. It also intends to launch an enterprise service for employers, universities and institutions and is targeting a large English-learning market estimated at over $70 billion by 2030 (Research and Markets). Loora is a generative AI iOS assistant focused on voice-based, on-the-fly conversational English practice. The app converses with users like a human tutor and provides feedback on pronunciation, prosody, fluency and grammar by combining speech-to-text with analysis of the speech signal. Loora initially built its own large language models in 2020 but now leverages multiple third-party LLMs for different tasks while training those models on its own data. The company is focused on spoken English for now, plans an upcoming reading module to anchor discussions, and is not offering writing instruction at present. Loora reports having “thousands” of paying customers (consumers and prosumers) and uses those interactions to expand its knowledge base. The product positions itself between casual language apps and expensive human tutors by offering affordable one-to-one conversational practice via generative AI.
