Overview
Rapchat is a Columbus, Ohio–based music-making app founded in 2015 by CEO Seth Miller that enables anyone—particularly rappers and hip-hop artists—to create music on their phone. Users select from thousands of beats, record vocals, and apply editing tools like voice effects and mastering to produce tracks. Completed tracks can be shared privately, within the Rapchat community, or to social channels such as Instagram and TikTok. The company recently launched its core studio product and plans to offer premium subscribers additional studio-quality tools and the ability to publish directly to streaming platforms to monetize content. Rapchat graduated the 500 Startups accelerator in 2018. It raised an additional $2.3M led by Adjacent, bringing total funding to date to $4M, and intends to deploy the new capital to hire across engineering, product, and marketing. Rapchat is a mobile app that enables rap enthusiasts to record, collaborate and connect with seasoned and aspiring stars through a combined mobile recording studio and social network. The platform is Columbus, OH–based and was co‑founded by Seth Miller (CEO) and Pat Gibson (CMO). Rapchat reports over 70,000 raps recorded every day and more than 100 million listens to date. The company added former musical.ly North America President Alex Hofmann to its board. It intends to use the new funds to continue to expand operations. The product focuses on lowering barriers to music creation and social collaboration for rap artists and fans.
