Riverlane develops quantum error-correction technology packaged as Deltaflow, a combination of QEC chips, hardware and software intended to track, predict and fix qubit errors. The company says Deltaflow can correct billions of errors per second and could extend quantum runs from hundreds of operations to millions or trillions. Riverlane has built an operations center to remotely link with early quantum computers and embed its chips into physical systems. It published a quantum error correction roadmap in July and is expanding R&D and operations while hiring; it employs more than 100 engineers and specialists. Riverlane reports some customers and partners, including Rigetti Computing, Alice & Bob, QuEra Computing, Infleqtion, Atlantic Quantum, Oak Ridge National Lab and the U.K.'s National Quantum Computing Centre. Financially, the company raised $75M in a Series C and, according to sources, now has a valuation above $400M. Riverlane develops quantum error detection and decoding technology, centered on its Deltaflow.Decode layer within a broader Quantum Error Correction Stack. Deltaflow.Decode originated from the 2018 QuantERA 'Quantum Code Design and Architecture' project coordinated by Riverlane’s VP of Quantum Science, Dr. Earl Campbell. The company plans to extend the decoder to support streaming and adaptive decoding during logical quantum operations and to implement a prototype on an FPGA. That prototype will be integrated into a quantum control system provided by Dutch scale-up Qblox to ensure compatibility across system layers. Riverlane says the work aims to enable continuous, real-time decoding capable of operating millions of times per second to support scalable quantum computation. The award also underscores Riverlane’s position in the quantum-error-correction field as it moves from offline software demonstrations toward real-time hardware-integrated solutions. Riverlane develops Deltaflow.OS, an operating system for quantum computers designed to convert many unstable physical qubits into error-free logical qubits so users can build reliable applications. The company demonstrated a high-performance Decode solution in November 2022 that allows Deltaflow.OS to support far larger numbers of qubits than previously possible. Riverlane plans to develop that Decode solution into a chip-based 'TeraQuOp' decoder by the end of 2025 capable of processing up to 100TB of data per second. The business works with enterprise partners including AstraZeneca, Merck, Astex, Rolls-Royce and Johnson Matthey. It maintains offices in Cambridge (UK), Boston and San Francisco. Riverlane intends to use the recent funding to accelerate development of its operating system and related hardware decoder work. Riverlane develops software to transform quantum computers from experimental technology into commercial products, centering on Deltaflow, an ultra-low-latency operating system for quantum machines. Deltaflow is designed to accelerate quantum-classical hybrid algorithms, facilitate hardware R&D, and provide a shared software layer allowing applications to run across different quantum hardware. The company aims to make Deltaflow a global standard and to optimise performance for near-term applications such as quantum chemistry and long-term quantum error correction. Riverlane says it has signed up roughly 20% of the world’s quantum hardware manufacturers to use Deltaflow. The company plans to use new funding to expand internationally to the US, Europe and beyond and to accelerate development of its operating system. Riverlane was spun out of Cambridge University and was founded in 2017. Riverlane develops a simulation engine that leverages quantum computers to accelerate the simulation of quantum systems, aiming to replace costly lab tests with computer simulation. Its software uses the principles of quantum mechanics to simulate microscopic systems and is positioned analogously to how GPUs accelerate machine learning workloads. The company plans to demonstrate its technology across a range of quantum computing hardware platforms and focus on early adopters in materials design and drug discovery. Riverlane will use the funds to expand its team of quantum software researchers and computational physicists. It is working with leading academics and companies on critical early use cases such as developing new battery materials and drug treatments. The company has raised seed funding to support these product development and go-to-market activities.
