SERG Technologies is a London-based developer of a device intended to provide early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of Parkinson’s disease. Founded in 2019 by Dr Ravi Vaidyanathan and Dr Sam Wilson and led by CEO Dr Christos Kapatos, the company is based on research at Imperial College London. Its NuRO platform uses acoustic sensors to detect movement and assess the state of patients' muscles, offering a more objective way to identify symptoms and measure severity. The platform could enable early diagnosis and be used for continuous patient monitoring to help doctors manage the disease more effectively. There is also potential to use the devices to deliver electrical stimulation of muscles to help relieve symptoms and to support work on a potential treatment. SERG raised £1.6m to pursue regulatory approval and prepare for launch in the UK and US.
