Sweet Escape operates an online marketplace to book photographers, manage shoots and deliver edited photos to customers. Founded in 2017 by David Soong and Emile Etienne in Indonesia, the company has offices in Jakarta (HQ), the Philippines, London and Singapore and employs 109 staff. Its product focuses on driving customers to photographers, providing in-house editing (with a goal to automate 80–90% of basic touch-ups) and offering tools to help photographers grow their businesses. When TechCrunch last profiled the company it had served 10,000 customers and worked with more than 2,000 photographers across 400+ cities in ~100 countries; the founders say customer numbers have doubled since that report, with Indonesia and the Philippines as its largest markets. Sweet Escape is expanding beyond travel photography into corporate customers and plans further geographic expansion (Thailand, Korea and Japan) and headcount growth to 200 staff. Management is working to shorten turnaround time toward 24 hours and is preparing a Series B for late this year or early next year to consider entry into larger markets such as China or the U.S.
