Overview
Treet operates an asset-light resale platform that enables brands to host branded resale experiences on their own websites while Treet runs the marketplace in the background. The company powers resale for more than 150 brands, including Girlfriend Collective, Ministry of Supply and bridal brand Galia Lahav. Most clients (about 90%) use Treet’s peer-to-peer model, where Treet and the brand act as matchmakers and third-party logistics providers handle the goods. Sellers receive prepaid shipping labels and, once items are verified, can take 80% of the selling price in cash or 100–110% store credit; roughly 60% of sellers choose credit. Treet integrates with brands’ order histories and loyalty systems and pulls in stock photography to create a seamless, brand-fronted experience. The company began taking on brands in 2021, is still in building mode, and is not yet profitable, though Disraeli says the resale businesses run by its brand partners are profitable. Treet is a resale provider that partners with fashion brands like Shein, Dôen and Boyish to create branded resale experiences. The company says it powered the majority of new branded resale experiences in 2022, handling 43 of roughly 73 launches per ThredUp’s Recommerce 100 report. Treet focuses on buyer–seller matching and SKU-level search to improve discovery and bridge the gap between buyers and sellers, which it cites as a key product priority. The startup uses data to measure which styles are listed most and sell quickest to help brands grow customer lifetime value and support degrowth strategies. Operating metrics cited include a 79% sell-through rate to date, a 55% monthly sell-through rate, an average listing price of about $85, customers spending 162% more with credit from resale programs, and GMV growth of more than 500% since 2021. Immediate plans include category expansion, launching additional brand partners (this month’s partner list includes Goodlife Clothing), and building innovative resale features. Treet builds white‑label resale marketplaces that let brands host and authenticate secondhand listings, reducing buyer friction by enabling SKU-based listing and trust in item authenticity. The company routes resale through brands so sellers can list items accurately and brands can engage owners directly. Treet takes a 10% fee on cash redemptions (plus a 10% cut to the brand) and a 10% cut on brand-credit redemptions, aligning incentives with partner brands. The startup says 30% of buyers on its platform have not previously purchased directly from the brand, indicating new-customer acquisition potential. Current customers include Boyish, Coclico, Altar and époque évolution, with Goodfair and Birdy Grey launching soon. CEO Jake Disraeli notes a key challenge is brand hesitancy to promote lower-margin used items, which the company is working to overcome.
