Wobble Genomics is a University of Edinburgh spin-out led by CEO Richard Kuo that develops a novel approach to RNA sequencing and optimises RNA and DNA sequencing efficiency for nucleic acid biomarker discovery and detection. The company is based in Edinburgh and says its technology could have applications across drug development, research, agriculture and ecology. Wobble employs a team of 10 and expects to double in size over the next two years. The firm intends to use the new funding to commercialise its technology. The latest round raised £8.5M and brings total funding to over £10.5M. Backers named in the round include Mercia Ventures, BGF, IQ Capital, EOS Advisors and Old College Capital. Management says the technology could improve clinical outcomes by building a picture of disease states from RNA. Recent corporate appointments include Nicola Broughton as Chair (appointed July) and John Duncan as Finance Director (appointed April).
