Basil Systems operates the BasilIntel SaaS platform that ingests and structures regulatory, clinical, and post-market data into a single, searchable intelligence layer. Its BasilLink dataset indexes over 600 million records including regulatory submissions, drug labels, clinical trials, adverse event reports, guidances, recalls, inspections, and citations, continuously updated and structured. The platform provides full-text natural language querying, API connectivity, and enterprise-grade infrastructure designed to support millions of concurrent users, delivering answers to complex questions in seconds. Basil's customers include Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, Baxter, four of the five largest global medical device companies, and it is in active trials with three top global pharmaceutical firms. Use cases span regulatory strategy, clinical planning, post-market surveillance, product development, supply chain optimization, risk mitigation, and real-world evidence analysis. Basil plans to expand data coverage, onboard additional enterprise clients, broaden support to adjacent life sciences players (manufacturers, suppliers, CROs, and regulatory agencies), and accelerate AI/ML deployment to automate complex workflows. Financially, the company announced a new $11.5 million funding round to deepen product capabilities and accelerate rollout across the pharma and medical device industry. Basil Systems delivers a commercial SaaS platform that leverages machine-learning across product, market, and regulatory data to provide analytics and insights for strategic product development, performance, supply chain management, and recall risk mitigation. The platform aims to reduce regulatory approval times and guide decisions for medical device and pharmaceutical companies. Basil has signed customer contracts with several Fortune 500 healthcare companies and industry service providers and supports law firms, consultancies, and regulators. The founding team previously built Co3 Systems (later Resilient Systems), which was acquired by IBM. Basil plans to aggressively expand its system and features to meet additional customer needs and to support purchasing groups, material and component suppliers, and distributors. The company released its commercial version publicly while announcing initial institutional funding.

  • Carats and Cake

    Participated · Series A · Sep 2022

Carats & Cake is a New York-based provider of a financial operating system for the events industry that delivers a revenue optimization platform for venues and property groups. Led by CEO Jess Conroy, the platform includes purpose-built marketing, sales, and customer conversion tools covering contracting, invoicing, and payments, connecting venue discovery through to payment. Its solutions are designed to complement existing CRM and POS systems used on the hotel booking side of the business, addressing workflows commonly run separately. The company plans to use new capital to expand product, engineering, and sales teams as it brings end-to-end revenue optimization software to venues and property management firms. Carats & Cake raised a $10.6M Series A, bringing total equity raised to $19.9M. It also maintains an additional $10M debt facility. Carats & Cake provides an integrated marketing platform combined with digital invoicing and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) financing tailored to event venues and property groups. Its core product links discovery and marketing with point-of-sale financing so venues receive payment up front while consumers pay interest-free installments. The company reports 53% of consumer payments across event types now utilize its BNPL solution, and venues using its invoicing tool see 81% of invoices paid on time (45% paid well ahead of due date). Hosts who select BNPL see average event value increase by 60%. The company says the financing and partnerships improve cash flow, accelerate conversions, and reduce time spent chasing payments. Today’s funding will support accelerating hiring and expanding its role as a full-stack partner to properties and venues.
