  • Koios Care

    Participated · Equity · Jun 2025

Koios Care converts passive data from everyday smartphones and smartwatches into clinical insights to personalise Parkinson’s care and support research. The platform is used by research institutions, industry partners and in hospital pilot programs, and a recent study involved 130 patients across multiple EU clinics. The company operates a dual business model serving patients and care providers with digital tools while offering pharmaceutical and medical device companies a real‑world evidence R&D platform. The newly raised €1M is intended to accelerate its mission to close gaps in care and enable earlier, more effective decisions. Koios Care plans to develop drug‑device combination products and extend its technology to other brain and behavior‑related conditions including Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s, narcolepsy, and eating disorders. With roots in Greece and Belgium, the company emphasises clinical validation and continuous, objective monitoring to personalise long‑term neurodegenerative condition management. Koios Care is an Antwerp‑headquartered digital health startup building AI trained to identify early signals of brain deterioration from patients' everyday activity. The company plans to commercialise digital biomarkers to enable earlier Parkinson's detection and improved monitoring of disease progression and quality-of-life metrics. Its six-year research programme has produced potential digital biomarkers for early phases of Parkinson's using evidence from passive datasets. Founders Konstantinos Kyritsis and Dimitris Iakovakis started the work six years ago and have appointed Kyritsis as CEO. Koios is supported by clinical researchers led by CHU de Liège professor Gaëtan Garraux and advised by Flemish health‑tech entrepreneurs and the managing director of Belgian Biogen, Kris Schellens. The startup intends to advance its product toward the market with the recent financing.
