  • Turion Space

    Turion Space develops integrated spacecraft, sensors, and software—including DROID maneuverable satellites and the Starfire operating system—to provide orbital intelligence and operations from LEO to GEO. The company is the first NOAA-licensed commercial provider of resolved non-Earth imaging in the U.S. and reports its initial two missions have delivered over 40,000 images. Turion has been awarded 28 U.S. government contracts and says it has a multi-billion-dollar pipeline across customers including NASA, the U.S. Space Force, the Space Development Agency, and the NRO. It employs roughly 200 people at its Irvine, California headquarters. Turion plans to scale manufacturing throughput from 8 to 40 spacecraft per year, expand continuous observation and non-Earth imaging capabilities, and scale Starfire for larger, automated multi-satellite operations. The company announced a $75+ million Series B to fund those growth initiatives and fleet proliferation.

    Overview Energy is a startup working to harvest sunlight in space and transmit it to Earth, enabling solar farms to deliver power both day and night. The company plans to deploy large solar arrays in geosynchronous orbit (~22,000 miles up) that convert sunlight into infrared laser beams aimed at ground-based receivers co-located with existing solar facilities. A recent airborne test saw the system successfully send power across 5 km from a light aircraft to a ground receiver, demonstrating proof of concept. Future milestones include launching a demonstration satellite to low Earth orbit in 2028 and beginning megawatt-scale power delivery from geosynchronous orbit by 2030. By re-using existing solar farms, Overview hopes to sidestep the need for bespoke ground stations and reduce public-safety concerns associated with high-power beams. The company faces competition from firms pursuing microwave-based wireless power as well as falling grid-scale battery costs. Overview has raised $20 million so far to fund technology development, backed by Aurelia Institute, Earthrise Ventures, Engine Ventures, EQT Foundation, Lowercarbon Capital, and Prime Movers Lab.

    LambdaVision, based in Woodbridge, CT, is engineering a protein-based artificial retina that leverages microgravity manufacturing to replicate the light-absorbing properties of human photoreceptor cells. The device is designed to activate surviving neuroreceptors in patients blinded by conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration. Led by CEO Nicole Wagner, the company has established manufacturing and quality-control protocols aboard the International Space Station, positioning its technology among the first clinical candidates produced in space. LambdaVision plans to use its recent seed financing to advance preclinical studies and expand space-enabled production capacity. The photoactive protein approach aims to provide a more natural, vision-restoring solution compared with current implants. While still pre-revenue and pre-clinical, the company’s work in microgravity lays the groundwork for future space-based biomedical research and commercialization.

  • Rendezvous Robotics

    Rendezvous Robotics is developing reconfigurable space infrastructure based on modular "tesserae" tiles that magnetically latch and self-reconfigure in orbit. The flat-packed tiles launch in dense stacks, are roughly the size of a dinner plate and an inch thick, and each contains a processor, sensors and a battery intended for low-cost mass manufacturing. The company uses autonomous swarm assembly and electromagnetism so tiles can find each other, dock, unlatch and rearrange via software commands. The technology was invented by Ariel Ekblaw during her time at MIT, incubated at the Aurelia Institute, and the company was formalized around Thanksgiving 2024; it is headquartered just outside Denver. Tile prototypes have flown on Blue Origin's New Shepard and on two missions aboard the International Space Station, which demonstrated autonomous docking, self-correction and reconfiguration. Rendezvous plans an ISS demo in early 2026, an external ISS mission in late 2026 or early 2027, and a subsequent mission to build a functional antenna aperture; it closed a $3M pre-seed to hire and advance the tech from demo to a full-scale orbital product.

  • Cascade Space

    Cascade Space is building the Cascade Portal, an end-to-end platform for satellite communication system design, test, and operations. The company recently open-sourced spacelink, a Python library with functions for communication system analysis used in the Portal. Cascade says the tools are intended to accelerate communication system design and reduce a major bottleneck for companies operating in lunar and deep space. The team includes veteran space engineers from SpaceX and Astra. The company will use the funding to accelerate development of its platform and related infrastructure. Cascade Space was founded in 2025 and is based in San Francisco.
