  • Prism Worldwide

    Led · Series A · Nov 2024

Prism Worldwide develops patented, American-made technology that converts end-of-life tires into high-performance thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) and polymer intermediates for elastomer and plastic markets. Its process reverses the polymerization of tire rubber in an energy-efficient, low capital-intensive way to produce functional, flexible materials that can be reincorporated into rubber- and plastic-based products. The company says its materials allow higher concentrations of recycled content without sacrificing product quality and can be recycled again at end of life. Prism reports it has reached commercial viability, evidenced by an initial round of sales and sales commitments for its TPEs, and is producing a product available for purchase today. Prism plans to use new capital to accelerate commercialization by consolidating operations, making capital investments in technology and equipment, and expanding its team. The company emphasizes circularity and reduced carbon emissions as key value propositions for customers and petrochemical partners seeking more sustainable feedstocks. PRISM Worldwide has developed a patented process that converts 100% of end-of-life tires into PRISM Thermoplastic Rubber (PTR), a like-new rubber and plastic polymer. PTR is used to replace virgin material in tires, roofing, paving asphalts, and industrial rubber products. The company says its process emits less than 15% of the greenhouse gases produced in the manufacture of synthetic rubber. With expanded R&D capability, PRISM aims to create additional applications for its technology, including materials for plastics manufacturing. The company is based in Kirkland, Washington, with its plant and laboratory located in Reno, Nevada. PRISM reported that the latest financing will support expanded operations and research and development.

  • KLOWEN Braces

    Led · Series A · May 2022

KLOwen Braces builds the Stride Custom Braces system, a 7–7 fully individualized braces solution that leverages 3D printing, artificial intelligence and digital indirect bonding. The product to date has featured metal brackets and the company plans to premiere a new 3D‑printed clear brackets solution at the American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session in Miami Beach, May 21–24, 2022. KLOwen says Stride reduces months of treatment, the number of office visits, chair time and patient discomfort versus traditional braces. The company reports that orthodontists using Stride typically double both their capacity and net profit per hour without adding staff or clinic hours. The article notes fixed‑appliance patients still represent nearly 70% of all orthodontics cases. KLOwen was founded in 2019 by Dr. Brandon Owen and is based in Austin, Texas; its Stride Custom Braces are patented. KLOwen Braces, founded by Dr. Brandon Owen in 2019 and based in Fort Collins, Colo., develops the KLOwen Custom Braces System, the world’s first in-office, same-day custom braces solution using prefabricated, modular brackets. The system leverages advanced software, 3D printing, a kit of 27 custom-shaped brackets and 3D-printed indirect bonding (IDB) trays to place and bond brackets precisely as approved in the software. It is designed to work on any orthodontic case, including those requiring functional appliances, expansion or surgery, with the goal of increasing doctor efficiency and reducing patient discomfort and treatment time. The company holds seven patents with 20 more patents pending. KLOwen positions its offering to enhance efficiency and profitability for orthodontists at a price point stated to be well below other custom solutions. The company recently received a $50,000 investment from the American Association of Orthodontists, and AAO leadership will take a board seat to help advance adoption and product development.

  • Hagar

    Led · Series B · Aug 2021

HAGAR develops GWave, a non-invasive continuous glucose monitor that uses radio-frequency (RF) waves to measure blood glucose in real time rather than interstitial fluid. The device integrates with Bluetooth and smartphones and includes an automated alert system for significant glucose fluctuations. In a proprietary study at the Weizmann Institute of Science (n=75) GWave achieved a mean MARD of 6.7%, with 97% of points in Zone A and 3% in Zone B on the Clarke Error Grid. The study included 34 people with diabetes (82% Type 1), ten pregnant people with diabetes, and 31 without diabetes; monitoring was performed on the wrist and compared to BGM and two commercial CGMs. A hypoglycemic test with Dr. Irl Hirsch demonstrated the device tracked a drop from 180 to 46 mg/dL accurately. HAGAR holds an FDA Breakthrough Device Designation (2021) and plans additional U.S. and Israeli studies in late 2023, aiming for eventual smartwatch integration at low cost to broaden access. HAGAR's core product, GWave, is described as the world’s first non-invasive continuous glucose monitor that uses radio-frequency (RF) waves to measure blood glucose rather than interstitial fluid. The company says GWave yields over 90% detection rates and clinical testing cited greater than 95% accuracy in at least one trial. GWave First Generation is about a third of the size of a smartphone, uses less RF than a smartphone, and connects to a smartphone app for readings. The company is developing GWave 2.0 as a sensor that can be integrated into a smartwatch and linked to the existing app to share data with healthcare providers. HAGAR positions the device both for diabetes management and preventive care to detect elevated glucose before diagnosis. Financially, the company has raised capital to support development and regulatory work, including a recent Series B that increases its total funding.
