  • Healthera

    Led · Series A · Apr 2025

Healthera is a Cambridge‑based patient experience platform founded at Cambridge University in 2015 that provides digital services and white‑label solutions to pharmacies. The company supports more than 1,700 UK pharmacies and over one million patients via its app, and processed over 5 million digital prescriptions in 2024. Healthera says its partners outperform the market by roughly 10%. Its core product enables repeat prescriptions, pharmacy services and access to private medicines. The company plans expansion across the UK and into North America—specifically Canada—and to develop new revenue verticals including private medicine prescribing and end-to-end clinical service management. Management describes the business as entering a next phase of growth backed by new strategic investment. Healthera operates a healthcare marketplace that provides patients with medicines, healthcare services and products through a digital platform. The platform connects over 1,500 pharmacies from large national chains and independent providers. The company intends to use the recent investment to expand its tele-pharmacy platform’s capabilities, develop new partnerships, and accelerate strategic initiatives. Planned product work includes enhancing pharmacy workflow and operations and building additional patient engagement capabilities focused on managing long-term conditions. Healthera aims to prove at scale its lasting impact on patient outcomes. Founded out of Cambridge University in 2015 and led by CEO Quintus Liu, the company previously completed a Series A led by Accelerated Digital Ventures and Cambridge Enterprise; the amount of the new investment was not disclosed. Healthera provides an end-to-end digital solution that lets patients order and track repeat prescriptions, access clinical services, and monitor medication intake through a network of pharmacies and NHS GPs. The platform launched commercially in late 2017 and now connects over 800 pharmacies and GPs and tens of thousands of patients. Healthera is partnering with NHS local authorities (CCGs) and plans to expand into OTCs, data-led primary care, and real-world pharmaceutical insight. The company was founded in 2015 by Quintus Liu, Martin Hao and Jin Dai and is based in Cambridge, UK. Healthera intends to use the new funding to expand its product line and scale its solution across the UK. The focus remains on assisting patients with repeat prescriptions as the core use case while broadening services over time. Healthera builds pharmacy IT solutions and a personal health management app designed to transfer and interpret complex medical instructions to patients and to enable patient participation in medication management. The company says its products empower the pharmacy industry to cut costs and develop additional revenue streams while supplying health care providers with real-world analytics. This institutional funding will allow Healthera to complete product development on the next generation of its pharmacy IT solutions and app and has financed pre-launch testing of product-market fit. In January 2016 Healthera became the first pharmacy-integrated medication application available on the Apple App Store. Management reports the funds enabled the company to grow from a small start-up to a structured technology company with its own culture, to build technical and commercial teams, establish strategic partnerships, and win NHS contracts. Company leadership positions the product as a scalable solution to medical non-adherence for the NHS.
