8560 W Sunset Blvd Fl 10, West Hollywood, CA, 90069, United States
Overview
Founded in 2004, CuriousMinds starts technology companies. They brainstorm the fastest methods to tackle everything from internet security loopholes to unbalanced supply and demand in healthcare. Many of these methods require no more than a basic communication technology—the telephone. Whether fun or serious, all of their businesses present egalitarian solutions to traditional challenges. CuriousMinds continually breaks new technological ground while also breaking social, cultural, and financial barriers. Their partnerships range from Fortune 500 companies to online question-and-answer communities; their clients include bankable Hollywood stars as well as budding YouTube talent. They all find a niche within their telecommunications cloud. This commitment to equality is reflected internally. Their unique company structure blurs divisions between marketing and technology. Regardless of his or her role, every member of their tight-knit team is an entrepreneur first. They sound off different ideas, identify the promise in each, and build cohesive, revenue-generating platforms. Driven by a collective imagination, they engineer new twists on old interfaces and tend to focus on industries ripe for a technological disruption. At CuriousMinds, and since 2004, they have envisioned the telephone as being more than just for standard audio calls. CuriousMinds-incubated Companies are proud to call the majority of the 10 largest Internet sites “clients”, and will continue to spawn concepts that re-imagine internet and smartphone technologies.

- LogDog
Participated · Equity · Jul 2015
LogDog is an Israeli startup offering a mobile app that monitors and helps protect online accounts from being hacked. The app is available on Android now, with iOS planned to follow soon. It works by logging in on users' behalf to services (Facebook, Dropbox, Gmail, Evernote, Yahoo! and Twitter) and continuously checking those services' activity logs. LogDog builds a profile of typical login parameters — locations, times, and device types — and alerts users to anomalies after a seven-day training period. Because it aggregates signals across multiple accounts it can spot cross-service patterns that single services would miss. The apps are free to use; the company plans to charge for additional features and premium support, and it has raised funding to expand R&D and roll out new features.
- ShowKit
Led · Seed · May 2014
ShowKit offers an SDK that embeds Mayday-style live video customer support directly inside native apps, letting users tap a help button to start a live video chat. Customer-service representatives can draw on the user's screen, take app-level control, and solve problems in real time. The experience is cross-platform so agents can assist from the web or natively on their own devices, and the platform integrates with Salesforce to pull in customer info. The SDK is configurable for two-way video, one-way video, or audio-only flows. While in private beta the company accumulated over 1,200 clients and developers, including HP, Cisco, MICROS Systems, Square, Barclays Bank, Capital One Labs, Zendesk, Rebtel, and Medtronic. ShowKit has raised $710k in seed funding and is currently fundraising for an additional $800k; the team plans to hire a sales force once funded.
