- PeriVision
Participated · Seed · Sep 2025
PeriVision’s core product, the VisionOne platform, fuses standard VR goggles with advanced artificial-intelligence algorithms to perform visual field examinations that are faster and more comfortable than traditional hospital equipment. Aimed at the world’s 100 million glaucoma patients, the system has already obtained certifications in the EU, the US and the UK, and its first product has been commercially launched. The company plans to broaden VisionOne with new tests for retinal disorders, add AI-driven analytics tools and build deeper clinical-integration solutions. Over the past three years, PeriVision has augmented its development with multiple non-dilutive supports, including EIT Health Wild Card, two Innosuisse project grants, FIT credit, and placements in Switzerland’s TOP100 Startups and Venture Leaders Medtech 2023. The startup is also taking part in Innosuisse Scale-up Coaching and the Biopôle Vanguard Accelerator. With the fresh capital, PeriVision intends to accelerate market expansion across Europe, the United States and the United Kingdom through 2025.
- Testmate Health
Participated · Seed · May 2024
Testmate Health is a Lausanne, Switzerland-based company developing over-the-counter (OTC) at-home self-tests for sexually transmitted infections. It is led by CEO Siew-Veena Sahi and was founded in 2021. The company’s first product is a urine-based self-test for chlamydia and gonorrhea that delivers lab-quality results in less than 30 minutes. Testmate positions the device for use anywhere at any time and emphasizes diagnostic accuracy. The startup raised $6M in Seed funding to support development of the OTC STI self-test. Its team comprises experts in sexual health and diagnostics. Testmate Health is developing a rapid urine self-test that delivers at-home results in minutes for the four common sexually transmitted diseases and digitally connects users to healthcare professionals for consultation and prescription if needed. The company is finalizing its prototype, plans small-batch in-house manufacturing, and will enter pre-clinical studies at the Hopitaux Universitaires de Genève. Testmate recently closed a seed round (amount undisclosed) and received additional support from the Biopôle Start-up Fund. It will use the 90k Biopôle funds toward lab and office infrastructure, hiring commercial and regulatory consultants, and equipment to begin small-batch production of test kits. The team is simultaneously developing a go-to-market strategy in light of COVID-driven changes to the self-test landscape and aims to open a Series A at the beginning of 2023. Testmate Health is an award‑winning spin‑off of the University of Geneva building a rapid digital at‑home urine test for common STDs. The device is designed to detect chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomoniasis and Mycoplasma genitalium and to upload scanned results to a paired app to guide appropriate follow‑up. Its product aims to let customers skip clinic visits and avoid multi‑day waits by offering a simple, immediate self‑test. The start‑up closed an oversubscribed seed financing round totaling CHF1.6 million, with a first closing earlier in the spring and an extension to bring in additional investors. Proceeds will be used to accelerate product development and complete pre‑clinical studies of the device ahead of commercialisation. The financing also brings experienced advisers onto the governance team to support the next stages of development.
- GaeaStar
Participated · Seed · Apr 2023
GaeaStar produces single‑use cups and bowls from a simple mix of clay, water, salt and sand and 3D‑prints them in "30 seconds or less" using a patent‑pending printer the company developed. The startup has piloted its disposable clay vessels in Germany and plans a U.S. trial with Verve coffee as it expands into American retail. GaeaStar describes a micro‑factory model that would print cups near customers, source clay locally, and in Germany has delivered vessels by e‑bike. The company says its internal estimates indicate it uses significantly less water and energy than paper or plastic incumbents and plans to pay for a full life‑cycle analysis in 2023. GaeaStar also envisions a future tabletop printer restaurants could use to print cups on demand at point of sale. Financially, it recently closed a $6.5 million seed round following an earlier $1.7 million pre‑seed raise.
- Bottneuro
Participated · Equity · Dec 2022
Bottneuro is developing the Miamind® Neurostimulator, a non-invasive, wearable, 3D-printed headset system that delivers periodic brain stimulation sessions for use at home or in clinical settings. The system pairs software and hardware — a large tablet, soft brush electrodes (no shaving needed), and an electronics neckpiece — and uses resulting 3D‑PET data to target affected brain regions. Pre-clinical data cited by the company suggest induced neuronal oscillations may reduce Aβ plaques and phosphorylated tau and modulate microglial inflammation. The startup has filed multiple patents and is building know-how in mass customization of cap design and individualized stimulation patterns to limit replicability. Bottneuro has academic and industry partnerships (including Samsung and Dätwyler Group) and previously received CHF 150,000 from Venture Kick in 2021. The team operates from offices in Basel. Clinical trials are planned to start in Switzerland in 2023, with a target for regulatory approval by 2025. The company says a recent capital increase places it in a stable position to accelerate development. Bottneuro develops a personalized Alzheimer’s therapy platform that combines early PET-based diagnosis with patient-specific electrical brain stimulation delivered via tailor-made, 3D‑printed headsets and a control tablet. The company will advance its patented NENI neuromodulation platform to refine stimulation protocols. Bottneuro plans to fabricate an initial series of 100 devices and to start clinical trials in 2022, with the first PET scan centers scheduled for establishment in 2023. To support these plans the startup received CHF 150,000 from Venture Kick, complemented by a Kick Fund investment, and is planning a CHF 10 million Series A in 2022–2023. Management and board experience include co-founder and CEO Bekim Osmani and former country presidents of Medtronic and Novartis serving on the board, which the company cites as support for business development. The funds are intended to set up PET scan centers and to advance business development and product preparation.
