  Neobe Therapeutics is developing programmable engineered live biotherapeutics designed to remove physical and immunological barriers in the tumour microenvironment to enable immune cell infiltration. Its approach targets highly fibrotic stroma and other causes of immune exclusion that limit immunotherapy responses in solid tumours. Since inception the company has engineered two differentiated proprietary products with demonstrated pre-clinical efficacy aimed at colorectal, pancreatic and breast cancers. Neobe was founded in 2021 by CEO Pedro Correa de Sampaio and CSO Annelise Soulier out of a venture-creation alliance between Deep Science Ventures and Cancer Research Horizons. Leadership includes chair Keith Blundy, a serial BioMedTech executive with experience in drug development, strategy and VC fundraising. The company says the new funding and grant support will be used to advance its engineered live therapeutics toward clinical impact and broaden the benefits of immunotherapies to non-responding patients.

  BugBiome develops microbial solutions for agricultural and human pest protection, leveraging the microbiome and engineering biology to offer alternatives to conventional chemical insecticides. The company is advancing a pipeline of targets across human and agricultural pests and is specifically working on methods to control aphids. BugBiome completed the 2023 cohort of Accelerate@Babraham, gaining access to mentors, communal laboratories, and investor networks. The team plans to expand following the recent funding to accelerate product development. BugBiome emphasizes solutions that protect biodiversity while reducing reliance on synthetic and bio-accumulative chemicals. The company is based in Cambridge, UK. BugBiome develops pest repellents that leverage the skin microbiome, using natural bacteria to create long-lasting protection. The company says its work aims to help stop the spread of vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue. BugBiome participated in Discovery Park’s Discovery Spark life science programme and was selected as the overall winner based on promising business offering and extensive progress during the programme. As part of the prize it received a business support package worth over £100,000, including one year of free lab space at Discovery Park and a £50,000 investment from Discovery Park Ventures. The programme included in-person training on team building, business metrics, branding, networking and mentoring, and culminated in finalist pitches at the GIANT Health Healthcare Investment Show. BugBiome is based in Sandwich, UK and intends to use the programme’s tools and connections to further progress its business.
