Triorb develops the TriOrb BASE, a ball-driven 360° omnidirectional mobility platform that uses three spheres and three motors at its base to achieve full-direction movement. The platform offers millimeter-level positioning and autonomous navigation via proprietary Visual SLAM and ROS2 modules and supports coordinated transport of multiple units. The standard model has a 300 kg payload capacity while a heavy-duty model carries up to 800 kg; the system can traverse 45 mm grooves, 10 mm steps, and gradients of approximately 9°. An optional battery provides about 3.5 hours of continuous operation. Target industries include automotive, semiconductors, steel manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, and construction, and a cited adoption example is Sugino Machine’s new mobile manipulator. The company has opened a Detroit base to support U.S. expansion.

Its platform aims to digitalize submerged assets by capturing and analyzing high-precision data, tackling Japan’s pressing need for efficient and safe underwater inspections. The firm seeks to alleviate labor shortages and safety risks associated with manual diving operations. Current priorities include boosting its data collection and analytics capabilities and widening the scope of its service offerings. With fresh capital, FullDepth will accelerate R&D on AI-driven autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) to enable automated, wide-area surveys. No revenue, customer, or other operating metrics were disclosed in the announcement.

MetCom is a Tokyo-based company developing next-generation ground-wave 3D positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) services. Its terrestrial system transmits signals up to 100,000 times stronger than GNSS, enabling centimetre-level, high-reliability location and time data across indoor, underground and dense urban areas. The technology earned top scores in every category of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s alternative PNT evaluations, underscoring its accuracy and resilience. In 2024 the company began a J-SPARC co-creation program with JAXA to combine its network with the quasi-zenith satellite “Michibiki,” further enhancing jamming resistance and precision. MetCom intends to deploy a nationwide base-station network to serve drones, air mobility, autonomous driving and other Society 5.0 applications. Proceeds from recent financings will fund construction and operation of this infrastructure. Including the new round, the company has raised roughly ¥2.2 billion to date, and views securing a robust domestic PNT capability as a national imperative.

The company recently secured nationwide FAA approval to fly its drones beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), significantly expanding operational reach. Sunflower Labs also launched an interactive property configuration tool to help customers design and price installations. Eight Knot develops an autonomous-navigation platform for small vessels called "Eight Knot AI CAPTAIN," offering helm-assist and autonomous operation capabilities. Founded in March 2021 and headquartered in Sakai (Osaka) with a Tokyo office, the company advanced from PoC to commercial operations after a prototype cargo test in October 2021 and a platform announcement in October 2022. In January 2023 Eight Knot deployed an AI CAPTAIN–equipped autonomous EV passenger vessel in regular water-taxi service, described as the first domestic commercial operation of an autonomous vessel. In July 2023 the company entered a capital-and-business partnership with Seika Daiya Engine to accelerate domestic market expansion. The firm plans to strengthen its robotics and AI engineering team, open regional sales offices in Japan, expand business-development staff, and form a team to prepare for overseas launch planned in 2024. The company completed a pre-Series A first close raising ¥110 million to fund these initiatives and further product development.
