  • Kvasir Technologies

    Participated · Series A · Jun 2026

Kvasir Technologies is a DTU spin-out that has developed a patented process to convert non-edible lignin-based residues from agriculture and forestry into refined, climate-neutral fuels intended as direct replacements for conventional marine fuels. The company operates a test facility in Fredericia with up to two tonnes-per-day production capacity and plans a commercial-scale demonstration plant in Aabenraa. Kvasir recently raised €10 million in a Series A to fund scale-up and commercialisation and has secured a strategic partnership with European Energy to form KVEEN Biofuels. The technology is positioned to be used within existing ship engines and infrastructure, aiming to lower barriers to adoption in the maritime sector. Existing investors EIFO, Mærsk Growth, and Footprint Fund participated in the round alongside new investment from European Energy.

  • ShipTown

    Led · Equity · Nov 2025

ShipTown has created the H-Battery, a single-unit system that merges electrolysis and fuel-cell functions, inspired by NASA’s alkaline fuel-cell technology. The technology can store excess renewable electricity as hydrogen and later supply electricity back to the grid or to energy-intensive sites such as data centres and Power-to-X facilities. ShipTown reports electrolysis efficiencies of roughly 90 % and fuel-cell efficiencies near 60 %, positioning the solution among the most promising for large-scale energy storage. Since inception, the company has advanced its prototypes through soft-funding programmes, accelerator participation (Beyond Beta) and grants from Innobooster, Fyrtårn Syd and Tønder Energi- og Miljøfond, as well as support from Energy Cluster Denmark. The new capital injection will let the team build next-generation prototypes, run larger-scale tests and hire specialised talent. Management aims to deliver a 2 MW full-scale pilot module by 2027 and ultimately build a global Danish manufacturing company with significant CO₂ impact.
