FaradaIC Sensors develops microchip-based electrochemical gas sensors that use a proprietary solid-state ion-conductive material (MECS) to eliminate liquid electrolytes. By leveraging standard semiconductor manufacturing processes the company says it can miniaturize sensors and enable mass production for applications detecting gases such as oxygen, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen. The firm intends to scale up production — including a product referred to as Faraday-Ox — to serve industries from medical devices and food freshness monitoring to automotive and consumer electronics. FaradaIC raised €4.5M in a funding round led by JOIN Capital to help scale its microchip technology. The article notes MECS addresses limitations of legacy electrochemical sensors (size, power, lifespan, scalability) and cites a growing global gas sensor market projected to exceed $35B by 2030. CEO Dr. Ryan Guterman characterized the technology as a "once-in-a-generation leap" enabling millions of sensors to be produced, a capability the company says competitors lack.
