Akido reports ScopeAI visits have delivered 5x more face-to-face time with patients and achieved a 96 NPS score. The company operates a bicoastal Akido Care medical network launched in 2022 that includes more than 240 providers across 26 specialties, roughly 90 clinics, and a patient base of nearly half a million. Akido leverages a proprietary dataset of over 10 million patient case studies and a reinforcement-loop-human-feedback (RLHF) environment to continuously refine ScopeAI. The company plans to use new funding to accelerate development and deployment of ScopeAI and expand into new markets, including a targeted program in New York City for professional rideshare and for-hire drivers.

Sparxell is a University of Cambridge spin-out that engineers bioinspired colour materials made entirely from cellulose sourced from wood pulp. By assembling cellulose crystals into precise microstructures, the company creates structural colours that reflect specific wavelengths of light, mimicking the vivid hues found in butterfly wings. Its platform targets fashion, textiles and other industries looking to replace petroleum-based chemicals, synthetic dyes, heavy metals and mineral pigments with environmentally safer alternatives. The materials are fully bio-based, non-toxic and biodegradable, meeting rising sustainability and regulatory requirements in Europe. Sparxell is currently operating at pilot-scale manufacturing and plans to reach industrial-scale production by 2026. The company has attracted strategic interest from consumer brands seeking high-performance, sustainable colour solutions. A recent €4.2 million pre-Series A financing provides the capital to accelerate scale-up and commercialization efforts.

The company says its proprietary algorithms and sensors deliver the industry’s most accurate and actionable muscle data. Over 215 professional and collegiate athletes and teams across the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, EPL and NCAA use STRIVE, and customers include organizations such as the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Orlando City SC, Leicester City, Manchester City, the University of Kentucky men’s basketball program and the U.S. Air Force. STRIVE will use the funding to build out sales and marketing to accelerate and scale growth among athletic and military customers and to advance efforts in the industrial sector. Founder and CEO Nikola Mrvaljevic said the company will invest in new use cases to drive growth and scale. Founded in 2016 and based in Bothell, Wash., STRIVE plans to continue innovating its product for additional markets. Strive is a Bothell, Wash.-based wearable technology startup that sews its Sense3 sensor system into ordinary compression shorts to measure muscle exertion, distance and heart rate. The product combines muscle, heart and motion metrics in a single solution to help coaches understand athlete efficiency and fatigue. Because the sensors are integrated into compression garments, athletes avoid straps, wristbands or other distracting wearables. The company works with customers including the University of Maryland, Rutgers and several NFL teams, is seeking NBA approval, and collaborates on research with Cal Poly and the University of West Florida. Strive is also participating in the U.S. Air Force’s AFWERX program and plans to automate the data-review process so insights can be communicated to coaches and athletic trainers. The startup recently raised $1.5 million, according to a regulatory filing, and has seven full-time employees. Founders Nikola Mrvaljevic and Carsten Winsnes draw on athletic and engineering backgrounds to develop the product.

OxiWear has developed an ear-wearable that continuously measures blood oxygen at medical-grade accuracy, issues haptic alerts as levels fall, and can send emergency texts with location to contacts. The device targets chronic disease patients prone to hypoxia (pulmonary hypertension, COPD, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, long-COVID and others) and high-altitude or high-performance athletes; the company also sees use cases in military and first-responder settings. OxiWear says current market devices provide only spot or sleep readings, whereas its product aims to deliver continuous readings while users are active. The founder designed the first prototype from personal need after repeated hypoxic events and cardiac arrests. The company holds trademarks and patents in the U.S. and Southeast Asia, is conducting beta testing for a consumer release in July 2022, and is working toward FDA approvals and hospital research partnerships.
